  1. Per the Wild Bunch Action Shooting Handbook. • Pistol and rifle ammunition must have a minimum bullet weight of 180gr (11.66 grams).
  2. Kid, Just so you know, they aren't one pound bottles of Trail Boss. They are 9 ounce bottles. There are others who have used Trail Boss for 45 Auto loads. I have no idea, though.
  3. Sassy, you know that because you have about 25 more years before you can shoot in it? Right?
  4. Can we pay as we go for those side matches? My entry for WR is already in.
  5. I said most of the time! Don't you start anything! 8)
  6. Well, feel free to ask. Most of the time this wire is a lot more friendly than other wires......
  7. From the sounds of it, your XSE is perfectly legal in modern category.
  8. To make the Gold Cup legal in Traditional? Sell it and buy a traditional gun. The trigger and sights and possibly other things. If you want to shoot Traditional, look at the 1991A1 series. There are a couple of the Series 70 models that would work. By the way, everything that is and isn't legal is in the Wild Bunch Shooter's Handbook.
  9. FJ, tell us more about your XSE. Why does it not make it?
  10. Gentlemen, I believe you're both right and you're both wrong. I don't have my rule notes handy but I believe the reason the Llama isn't legal is that it is a vented rib. The Colt rib is not. That is not 100% clear in the current published rule book. I will try to reach out to Happy Jack who does not have much internet access while he is at the convention. As has also been stated, most Llamas also are not true 1911 pistols, with the same function grip safeties. Basically, to answer the original poster's question, only 1911/1911A1 style pistols and copies are allowed. Llamas are not true copies.
  11. Glen USA good friend of mine and probably knows as much about cast bullets as anybody around.
  12. I read it as 10,000 per year and while they may not be cheap, I expect them to be better priced than what's on the open market, now. Look at Garands. The CMP prices are not too bad.
  13. I agree with Tom but will add that I think the alloy is too soft for the velocity he is shooting. Or the bullets don't fit well.
  14. Www.twobitsbullets.com is where I get mine. I have used Badman. Great bullets and great people. Twobits are good enough to win 3 NM state overall championships, the Western Territorial championship, WR overall national championship and 2nd overall at EOT. Might just be something to them and 230 grain bullets...
  15. The Redding dies work without any modifications at all. The Dillon dies have a HUGE radius at the bottom to help guide in the brass. That can lead to not sizing the case completely. The Redding dies size the case more fully. There are other reasons but that is the biggest one. As to less muzzle flip with the heavier bullet, remember velocity plays a key factor. For a 185 grain bullet to make the same power factor that I use with the 230s, the bullet has to be going around 890 fps compare to 725. It makes a big difference. Not like in cowboy where power factor is no consequence. I used a 200 grain for years until J Frank Norfleet enlightened me. Side note. I do use the Dillon small size nuts on the Redding dies. Just for room around the dies.
  16. We had A time...... It was a lot of fun but very, very wet..... I haven't been that wet since I left Georgia 17 years ago. Nellie and Possum put on a great match. I wish the weather had been better for them. And of course, one of my best stages had to be tossed out due to the weather.
  17. Personally, I like the 230 grain bullet around 725 fps, or slightly over. Much less muzzle snap and faster splits. I don't have my load data handy and don't try to remember it, any more. I would also look at Redding dies. While Dillon makes great products, I like Redding dies better, personally.
  18. I heard I won some side match there, Happy Jack. But have not seen the results, yet.
  19. Too hard to run fast? Maybe that's why the winners of the last 2 National and World championships ran model 12s.... And at least the last 3 NM state championships and the latest territorial.
  20. Anything with Model 97 on it! If you're wanting it for Wild Bunch, get a 12 and don't look back!
  21. Promocop, there are several ways to possibly bring the weight into spec. First, the stocks on that gun are extremely heavy. Replacing them with some lighter wood or polymer ones would take a great deal of weight off. Second, if it has a full length guide rod, you could replace that with a standard spring guide and plug. Also, as mentioned, going to an aluminum or plastic mainspring housing will help. All of this could be done without permanently modifying the pistol. I'm not sure which barrel bushing it has but if it has one of the more modern, thick flanged one, going to a standard style one would remove a very slight amount of weight.
