  1. Texas, looking at the magazines on my laptop instead of my phone, I am still going to say those are legal.
  2. Nellie Blue will be there at the match, along with Possum Skinner. I do not know when they will arrive. I won't until Saturday morning. I can't tell from the Kimber site but will try to dig deeper. As I said, if all else fails, I'll have plenty of magazines.
  3. Texas Bart, I'm certain your mags are legal. The .020-.050 is nominal. Does the bottom of the mags look like a standard GI mag? I'll be at that match with plenty of spare mags. We will get you checked out before the match, my friend.
  4. Texas, no dumb question. Please feel free to ask here anything, anytime. I'll try to answer theses two. #1 Stage calls for rifle and shotgun staged at the same position. Shotgun is fired first. Shooter runs to the position and picks up rifle, gets it to shoulder and levered before anyone catches them, you now have a Procedural penalty. #2 Yes, not only is that legal, it is probably the most preferred method. Keeps the spare ammo very handy and keeps the magazines to the offside of the body. Kirkpatrick and Mernickle both make slides like you are referring to. Hope this helps.
  5. Thanks, Goatneck! Need to call you this evening! Got a question for you about SKBs.
  6. Folks, just got back from the Legends Territorial Wild Bunch Championship hosted by the Dixie Desperados in St. George, UT. match Director, JT Wild, put on a great match. It was great fun! If you didn't make it, you missed out! Put it on your calendar for next year.
  7. We are gonna miss you up there, WBT.
  8. Hopefully, I can be David and not Goliath.
  9. Will do, Happy Jack. On my list of topics.
  10. Last reference I can find on slings is from 2012 and they were NOT legal on long guns. Either I am missing it or it is not in the latest WBAS Handbooks. Are slings legal on long guns?
  11. Frenchy, Please don't take my comment as being critical of you. Believe me, I know how fast some folks are and you just can't catch them. Been there, done that! Personally, I would still give it a no call.
  12. Personally, I would have stopped the shooter and let them restart the stage completely since no round had went down range. Cleared the gun, loaded a magazine and let them restart, after taking a breath.
  13. Yeah, for a while, Win AA quality sucked! I had one where the base was crushed down one side like you'd crush a case in a sizing die. I am a bit more surprised at the high rate in the Federals. I'll tell you, it makes me wonder about the quality of all factory ammo, anymore, especially self defense. For every 100,000 AAs they make, they probably make a couple million self defense cartridges. Do they have the same failure rate?????
  14. Went through 16 boxes last night of Win Low Noise/Low Recoil and Federal Metro. Had about 15% Federal failure and a 2% Win failure. One AA even had a split base....
  15. Ah, but Garrison Joe, the 25, made from 1949 to 1954, isn't a Model 12 any more than a Yugo 48 isn't a Model 24 Yugo.
  16. Looking forward to hear the answers to these, myself.
  17. First, and I don't mean for this to sound smarta**ed, this isn't cowboy. Second, I truly believe the intent is for the magazine pouches on the opposite side of the body to be used and not pouches on the same side as the gun. AS GJ said, put a lighter in it. Put a folding knife in it. We both may be wrong but I see it as a non issue if it does not have a magazine in it.
  18. Just my opinion but if you were at a match and it did not have a magazine in it, I would not say anything about it.
  19. Allie, I sure hope WBAS doesn't go the way of CAS in the respect of big, close targets with spoon fed stages!! CAS is not a shooting match, anymore. It's a speed match. Not to belittle any of these people running sub 10 second stages, but that isn't truly shooting. WBAS, with smaller, further targets and challenging scenarios, tests more than speed. It tests your accuracy. It tests your gun handling skills. It tests your ability to navigate a stage to your advantage. That is why we don't get much more crossover from SASS. Doesn't have anything to do with a rifle. The same folks who say it's the rifle cost that keeps them from coming over will be the same ones complaining about the number of rounds fired in a WBAS match. If I didn't have an SO who wants me to shoot CAS with, I'd stick to WBAS exclusively. Boggus
  20. Dog, The sling shot method is years slower than using the slide stop. If I get a chance this weekend, I'll film and time it to try and show the difference.
  21. Okay. Yes, two different trains of thought. Some say the slide stop is used to lock the slide back and using it to release the slide is hard on it. It is a much faster method than using the sling shot method. If it wears the gun out, my opinion is that there is something wrong. Others WILL disagree. The trigger control part is good to learn.
  22. At certain times, other 3gun matches start your pistol hammer down on an empty chamber with NO magazine in the gun. I've also had to clear the gun on the clock and reholster!
  23. Allie, For one thing, the 1911 was not designed for cocked and locked. The thumb safety was an addition requested by the US Army. Most other shooting sports use the same basic procedure for showing clear; magazine out, gun clear, slide down, hammer down and holster. That is for most shooting sports. The tactical people do things different. I carry a 1911 most days. It is cocked and locked. Even in WBAS, as I draw, I feel my thumb wipe down the thumb safety. Not muscle memory as much as training. I'll always argue that muscles have no memory. Disconnect your central nervous system and your muscle will not do anything.... Teacupping is the second worst possible way to use two hands. The first is to grab your strong hand wrist with your weak hand. I don't quite understand what you mean by "They did not have us unlock the slide before showing clear. They wanted us to pull it back again to make it release." Also, holding the trigger back for how long? You have to have follow through, of course and the trigger mechanism has to reset but why hold it back? Boggus
  24. I have, WBT. Did not get to spend a lot of time with him but he seems like a down to earth, nice guy.
  25. Not got to shoot one but have handled a couple at shows. Other than the plastic trigger, I like it. Good sights, thumb safety, front strap checkering, metal mainspring housing, if I remember correctly. Stocks are too thick for my tastes but an easy fix. No guide rod.
