JT also shot the cowboy match clean at the same event.

Kid, First, OAL length will vary some because the seating stem in your dies are not pushing directly on the end of the bullet. They stem is pressing on some point on the ogive(curve, for lack of an easier explanation) of the bullet, unless its a semi or full wadcutter. The bullets will vary slightly. Second, the OAL of a semi auto cartridge should not be determined by a manual. It will be determined by what feeds in the gun. I can't think of the last time I measured the OAL length of my 45 Auto ammo but I will bet it would vary as well. However, I do know that it feeds in my guns all the time. My advice is to get a loaded cartridge gauge and make sure everything gauges. Some will tell you to use your barrel but i don't recommend it for two reasons. One, it doesn't gauge the complete cartridge. Secondly, and more importantly, at some point, the possibility of you getting distracted and accidentally having a live round in your gun when you don't want it to be there. Phone rings, wife hollars from the house, neighbor pulls up. However, back to your question. If you use the OAL length from the manual, slightly shorter would be better. That way, when you do have that long bullet, and you will, it will still be short enough to feed.

And JT Wild did it once either at EOT or Winter Range. As much as I hate giving credit to my good friend JT! ;)

Happy New Year to you, brother!

Not Evil Roy, Back 40, but i believe those dueling tree targets are 6" diameter and will be anywhere from 10-25 yards. There has not been a target you could not hit. But you better have your gun sighted. The shotgun targets have all fell before to Winchester AA Low Noise/Low Recoil loads. I am sure this year will not be any different.

Not as easy to do with a guide rod as without but still can be done. As you mention, I try to prevent that from happening by gauging all my ammo. Usually, once you find a good bullet, good brass, good dies and a good reloading process, it goes a lot easier and I have less and less bad ammo.

Maybe not so obvious to some of us. Care to explain?

And a safe and very Merry Christmas to you, as well.

Kid, Just so you know, they aren't one pound bottles of Trail Boss. They are 9 ounce bottles. There are others who have used Trail Boss for 45 Auto loads. I have no idea, though. -
ER, How about a coed team?

50 yards, according to his other post.

Sassy, you know that because you have about 25 more years before you can shoot in it? Right?
-
Excellent!!!

Can we pay as we go for those side matches? My entry for WR is already in.

I said most of the time! Don't you start anything! 8)

Well, feel free to ask. Most of the time this wire is a lot more friendly than other wires......

From the sounds of it, your XSE is perfectly legal in modern category.
-
To make the Gold Cup legal in Traditional? Sell it and buy a traditional gun. The trigger and sights and possibly other things. If you want to shoot Traditional, look at the 1991A1 series. There are a couple of the Series 70 models that would work. By the way, everything that is and isn't legal is in the Wild Bunch Shooter's Handbook.
-
FJ, tell us more about your XSE. Why does it not make it?
-
Gentlemen, I believe you're both right and you're both wrong. I don't have my rule notes handy but I believe the reason the Llama isn't legal is that it is a vented rib. The Colt rib is not. That is not 100% clear in the current published rule book. I will try to reach out to Happy Jack who does not have much internet access while he is at the convention. As has also been stated, most Llamas also are not true 1911 pistols, with the same function grip safeties. Basically, to answer the original poster's question, only 1911/1911A1 style pistols and copies are allowed. Llamas are not true copies.

CMP Now Authorized To Sell Surplus M1911's
Boggus Deal replied to Sgt. John Campbell's topic in The Wild Bunch Wire
I read it as 10,000 per year and while they may not be cheap, I expect them to be better priced than what's on the open market, now. Look at Garands. The CMP prices are not too bad. -

I agree with Tom but will add that I think the alloy is too soft for the velocity he is shooting. Or the bullets don't fit well. -

Www.twobitsbullets.com is where I get mine. I have used Badman. Great bullets and great people. Twobits are good enough to win 3 NM state overall championships, the Western Territorial championship, WR overall national championship and 2nd overall at EOT. Might just be something to them and 230 grain bullets...
