  1. Just put a gauge on mine and Lady Jane’s, recently. They’re all 2 lbs 2 oz but feel lighter. For me though, take up, over travel and crispness are more important than actual weight, unless it’s crazy heavy.
  2. A New Colt Competition with an action job and gold bead front sight.
  3. My suggestion is to have all your barrels chambered by a gunsmith with a new reamer that’s at maximum SAAMI specs. Plus, add a few thousandths extra throat.
  4. I don’t shoot Traditional, yet, but Lady Jane does. One of the many things she has learned is to not fall for the idea to have the magazine in your offhand out by the gun. You cannot beat the empty mag out of the gun and having your offhand braced somewhere against your body is a much more stable, and accurate, platform than it having out there waving in the breeze. The next thing I’m going to say will go against the grain of what has been said. Quit focusing on the front sight. It is a very, very distant second to the most important thing: trigger control. Spend days lining up the sights on target and jerk the trigger and you will miss.
  5. Winter Range rifle targets were too few and too close. Sight in for 15 yards and you’ll be fine anywhere.
  6. That’s no bigger, if as big, than a Gold Cup. Without seeing one up close to see something more, I’d say that would be legal.
  7. Cowboy Carty, Slick McClade.
  8. I prefer thin. My fingers are short and fat.
  9. Grouchy, do you have pics of one? I have not seen one on DW’s website.
  10. Blaze, I’d like that very much!
  11. Blaze, according to my gauge, that is right at 1.5”. Maybe a touch more. I’d really need to break out my 1911 drawings and see what the print says.
  12. There is a gauge to test them. I really don’t worry about round count. Just replace them when I feel like it.
  13. I’ll send you one to try.
  14. Listen to Happy Jack.
  15. It’s not legal but that’s a heck of a price on one if it’s in good shape.
  16. If the sights have white dots, you can paint them. I know several people who shoot 1991A1s.
  17. It’s two main purposes is to keep tension in the mag tube to keep it from rattling and to keep it turned tightly into the receiver extension.
  18. I recommend 16# recoil and mainsprings. Their is more to recoil spring weight that determines how far they come out of the gun. Extractor shape and tension. Ejector shape and length. Besides, as long as they clear the gun, does it matter if it’s an inch or twenty yards?
  19. Just remember, Marshall Flint, while so far the information posted here has been correct, for the most part they’re just opinions. The rule book is the final answer.
  20. Your pistol is is legal in Modern with that grip safety but with a switch to a Traditional style grip safety and blackening the sights, it should be legal in Traditional as well. Your Rossi in .45 Colt should be legal as long as the rest of the rifle requirements are met. The shooter’s handbook gives all the rules in one place and is quite clear.
  21. Yikes! Glad no one was hurt. Like to have that for demo purposes!
