  1. No mods needed to load 6 other than removing the wooden plug in the mag tube. Personally, I don’t use the flag. Nor do I “tilt” the gun. I just run it! My new firing pin will be available soon that will address what I consider the only weak point of the Model 12.
  2. No because the Model 12 is so much smoother and faster than the 97. It’s in technique. Why do you think the winners of Winter Range and EOT use Model 12s?
  3. If you take the stock off, there should be a number stamped into the face where it meets the receiver, if it’s original. I believe it could be a factory stock that’s been refinished or one from another Model 12.
  4. If not, let me know. I have a couple.
  5. At EOT this year, of the top eight shootoff in both ladies and men, there were only two shooters who used the '97. Maybe that should tell you something. Model 12s were used by the winners in all categories, except maybe one.
  6. Boomstick, as long as didn’t move with a cocked, loaded gun or let it leave your hand, that’s a no call.
  7. 3” shells cycle through my 2 3/4” guns like they were made for them. But I am certain the chambers are only 2 3/4”. It’s because of the crimped length. Just don’t fire them!
  8. Couple of common reasons, both bad news: Someone lengthened the chamber (or installed a 3" chambered barrel) Gun is heavily worn and chamber has been blown out so that now 3" shells chamber. I got one with a blown chamber, and had it sleeved by a gunsmith who has now passed on. Is his ejection port large enough to cleanly pass 3" fired shells? Sometimes "gunsmiths" "fixed" that also if they lengthened the chamber. Good luck, GJ A 3” shell will easily drop into a 2 3/4” chamber as most 3” shells are only around 2 5/8” long when crimped. It’s only when fired that it’s too long for a 2 3/4” chamber. Saved a screenshot. No need to go edit it.
  9. I’d like to see pics of your bolt. I can’t seem to post any here. Trading off that Mossberg for a 12 would be good.
  10. Biggest difference is square face and round face. Second is the cartridge stop on the bottom. I’ll see if I can send a pic.
  11. If the new carrier isn’t made for a flag, it would need machined. I don’t use a flag. Just one more part to get in the way. You also need a 2 3/4” bolt, which I have.
  12. I'm not sure if or when SASS will get them up but I will scan and post them or email them next week. I am a bit covered up this week.
  13. Only when using that ammo. By chance, you have a magazine that holds 8. You load 8 in and fire that round in the completion of the stage, then the penalty is earned. In your original post, shooter did not “overload”. Absolutely nothing wrong with what they did to complete the stage, right up until they fired those two extra rounds. Had they stopped at the 14th round, dropped mag and cleared gun, there would not have been a penalty. I hope that helps clear it up for you.
  14. What that line, “Any targets hit with that ammunition will be scored as MISSES”, actually means is that if the shooter had used that extra ammo to complete the requirements of the stage, they would be called misses. In the case mentioned by the original poster, it would just be a Procedural and the time spent.

  16. Before you spend any more time or money on the gun, inspect your shells. I know they’re factory shells but the quality of factory ammo has plummeted lately.
  17. What stop? Plenty of original and new parts available. No need to make one.
  18. The world is a lesser place, today. Our thoughts and prayers for Cindy and Captain Sam.
  19. Bodie's Celebration of Life service will be June 29th, 2019 at 11:00 am MST at Cowtown Range. The family would like as many cowboys who can to be there.
  20. Wild Bodie Tom was the only one who made a real conversion. With his sad passing on Tuesday, I know they will be available but not sure when. Give us a couple days and I can give you a better answer.
  21. Abe, my opinion and only MY opinion is that the answer to your first question is a SDQ. First half of the second question is, again my opinion only, is the end of the firing line would be when the shooter safely has their pistol holstered and long guns retrieved to head to their gun cart. I agree on the second half. Lastly, in my opinion, it depends on how the pistol is dropped. Was the pistol being handled in an unsafe manner? By that I mean it should be holstered. Why was it out? Were they taking it out to put it in the cart? Did they turn around and catch it on someones cart parked to close and pull it out? Were they mishandling the gun? Did they trip in a hole and it fall out? That answer, I think, is going to be a judgement call. Again, this is all my personal opinion. Happy Jack may help clear up some questions.
  22. The Shooters Handbook give the directions on how to measure your stroke. Most of the kit makers today all make legal kits
  23. Did you read the title of your original post? The one where you said the scoring system sucks?
  24. What exactly is the point you’re trying to get across? Like I said, you started out attacking the scoring method. Then, match directors for not showing performances. Go look at the scores from EOT the last few years in the side match called cowboy. Wild Bunch is the main match. It only shows the times. Doesn’t show penalties. Same with Winter Range. Both quite successful matches. Again, what exactly is the point? The Rules Committee over the last few years has made lots of changes listening to what shooters have spoken about. What is it that would be so simple to change?
