  1. Dusty, You are probably correct, from the back it looked different to me. Guess I saw what I wanted. I think the current shooters will shoot no matter what the round count. Last Saturday saw an old friend. He is an active IDPA shooter from the Houston area. Since I was returning from a match he wanted to see my Wild Bunch guns. A rabid 1911 shooter, he was obviously interested in this type of 3 gun. His first remark was he didn't want to dress up in a costume. When I told him what I was wearing was what I shot in he replied that was what he wore every day. His interest rapidly vanished when discussing the rules I mentioned the mags were loaded with 5 rounds. Lets face it. WBAS is a CAS side match where cowboy shooters get to shoot their 1911. As SASS ages where do we get new shooters? In New Mexico we aren't and if the numbers at this year's state match are an indicator, Texas isn't either. JFN
  2. Evil Roy, Folks see what they want to see. The percentages below have not changed since the poll was started. When you asked the question at the Texas State match in Cleburne, from where I was standing it looked like the response you got fit the poll. http://sassnet.com/wildbunch/forum/index.php?topic=1619.0 [move]What ever . . .[/move] JFN
  3. Wonder if they come in denim to match my wranglers? JFN
  4. Don't worry Papa Grande, it is hard to take a guys wearing pink shirts with ruffles seriously. I was in a rural church recently. They had a bunch of photos on the wall from the turn of the last century. And I marveled at the number of ranch folks wearing the newsboy caps. Now that I know they are legal I think I will get me one. JFN
  5. Doesn't make any difference! In a correct over hand cock the hand is off the top of the slide before it begins to return to battery. If your hand is still there you are riding the slide down and causing a host of other chambering problems. A Ka-boom happens when the slide is not fully racked allowing the ejector to hit the primer. You usually see it with Glocks with their pointy ejector and a shooter trying to eject a live round into their cupped hand because they are too lazy to bend over and pick them up off the ground. For me the overhand is faster. JFN
  6. Sounds like a magazine problem to me. JFN
  7. Lone Dog, Instead of a Filipino nickel 1911, send one of those US made pistols you know you like to Mose n Bella and have them gold plate it. With some white ivory grips (see Bogus Deal) you'd be the flashiest shooter around. JFN PS they can also silver and nickel plate.
  8. Largo, Pack your BAMM rifle for Outlaw Trail. Just had Misty put it on the schedule for Wednesday afternoon. JFN
  9. Col Del Rio, The first question you need to answer is are you going to shoot "traditional" or "modern?" You can shoot a traditional pistol in the modern category but not a modern in the traditional. Answering that question will help a bunch. For modern I and a number of shooters have had real good luck with the Ruger SR1911. For traditional, follow Joe's advice and find a Colt series 70 and have WBT or GN tune it up for you. JFN
  10. Mica and I are talking about side matches. With 2 days of matches I don't know if they will happen. Mica gets back from the Silver City annual tonight so I should have an answer this week. They would have to be quick and fun to get any sort attendance. JFN
  11. Happy Jack, Would you re-read Blackey's question. Your answer and his question don't quite jive. JFN
  12. Is there a link for this article? Not many newsstands in Ancho and my internet search produced nothing. JFN
  13. Nellie Blue is the site administrator. She has to get home to Louisiana from EOT. When she gets to her home computer she will update it. JFN
  14. I think we are struggling to understand the nature of Sgt Eli's question. Did the shooter break the 170 in the attempted re-holster? Which would be a SDQ. Or, do the rules on the 170 from CAS apply on re-holstering? Since WBAS doesn't allow re-holstering the strict view would be he broke the 170 and earned a SDQ. Would a muzzle forward canted holster be different? That is the TO's call. So, I agree with Sgt Eli. JFN
  15. Heads up for everyone! The WBAS RO Committee has met and at EOT it has been announced that we are back to where we were a year ago. The only time you may insert a loaded magazine is if the slide stop fails to lock the slide back. Any other malfunction you must lock the slide back before inserting the mag. Now that is simple! The new rule books will be up when Nellie Blue gets home from EOT. I bet Happy Jack will enumerate the changes in this forum.
  16. Or, nobody told CD Tom the set up. Lets see, 16 divided by 4 is 4. The average posse size would be 20, still a nice posse size. JFN Edit: That sounds real critical. Apologies! We shoot 12 stages and probably 6 bays. There will be plenty of space to rotate through with 5 posses in 3 days. JFN
  17. Due to a permanent hand injury we are tying several different options. Personally I can't tell the difference between the extended and the extra extended. Keep digging WBT. JFN
