  1. BD, sounds like success! Glad to hear you’ve started getting the bolt guns up and running! Are any of the clubs up in your area having BAMM? We have a BAMM every month after our WB match. Shot Oklahoma state WB match recently and they had a doughboy, bamm combat and bamm sniper featuring a moving target......how cool is that? Dusty B
  2. JTS, welcome! ;D sounds like you got the guns covered. go ahead and get some Tripp’s magazines if you don’t have enough yet. If you have any questions about WB this is the place for correct answers. Does the Cowtown club shoot WB monthly? Dusty B
  3. BD, use of gc bullets with the gc on is probably going to have the 17 shooting for you. I have not had hardly any luck without gc in the mil spec guns. Couple of go to guys for bullets are Norm Purcella with a 170 gc and hitek coated. Hoodoo Brown will make you some bullets that are gc and lubed to get you started. Best start for the mark 4 would be to slug the bore and see what it is. Dusty B
  4. DI , that boot looks to fit right in. What fits over that boot is ww2 leggings. Ww1 used a marching shoe with leggings so that period leggings fits tighter around the ankle and above. Several places make the ww2 leggings and they actually have different sizes so you will measure around the calf etc. to pick out the size. What price glory has these along with several other company’s.
  5. SS, yes sir we still have open class! Turn that little buzz saw loose! Dusty
  6. Howdy Back 40! We are going to start the rifle a couple of different safe ways. Open bolt empty Open bolt charged or stripper in place ready to charge Closed bolt empty chamber hammer down This will be according to how the stages are written. With bamm we start sometimes with the rifle bolt open and clip laying on a table about 6' from the shooter at the beep shooter advances to the table charges the rifle and gets to work. I see a lot of great stages with dough boy starting from various positions. Tomorrow is the day! Dusty Boddams
  7. Looks like great weather for our first match of the new year. Introducing a new class for our local club. Dough Boy! Replacing the lever action with the bamm rifle and placing targets at 50 yards and out. Of course we still have our traditional and modern class as well. So come on out and shoot the very first Dough boy match ever , right here in Cleburne,Texas. Dusty Boddams
  8. Hey I forgot to mention Norm makes a .325 bullet also for oversized or worn bore problems
  9. Well howdy WK, Hoodoo Brown has these bullets local in .323 G.C. and Norm Purcella has them hitek coated and G.C. Hoodoo number is 432-661-3745 he can load these for you! and Norm is 575-625-2825. 8mm is an easy to load round and usually will go to shoot'n right off the bat. One thing of note most all the 8mm use 3 bump clips. What rifle did you get? Start about 14 grains of trail boss that's what grouchy spike uses for powder in his k31. Red dot ,2400, what do you have to work with ? Loads are flexible with what we are trying to do and I bet you've got powder on the shelf that will work well. Dusty B
  10. KR, I bet the reduced loads would be a lot easier......on everything! My favorite load for that rifle is 16 to 18 grains of 4759, standard primer and about a 170 grain gc lead hi tek coated bullet. Accurate and gets the job done with hardly any recoil. Welcome to BAMM! Dusty Boddams
  11. GS, now that sounds really neat! How often do they shoot WB? So this will be a standard monthly category! Expect this idea to be stolen! Sounds like a large time! Dusty Boddams
  12. ;D with the wind we had no pair thrown was the same as before. Dusty
  13. J frank, you hit the nail on the head my friend! ;D
  14. ;D I will sneak in an answer and its 25 for BAMM and if you want to shoot BAMM more for fun plan accordingly. I would an extra 50 for the pistol and heck 50 for the shotgun. We won't shoot that many but I always rather have to much........Dusty Boddams
  15. JFN, I liked your videos! I guess wild bunch shooters can count to seven ;D. Did any one complain about kicking the rifle targets back? We had 13 shooters Saturday and doing a quick poll 100% liked the rifle targets being pushed out. Dusty
  16. JFN, sounds like success! Did you have any issues? Mag drop to early, movement slide forward etc.? Anything imparticular to watch out for? We shot Saturday and we are shooting 5 round mags until our quickly arriving state match is over. However the rifle targets were kicked out to as far as 30-35 yards and 25 yards at another stage. Just this one simple act changed the entire feel of the match and seems to give the rifle a purpose to exist. On thinking about it if the rifle targets are now out and away from the pistol targets those rifle targets could be spread out across the stage, staggered or what ever. 7 round mags and rifle targets shot at rifle distances! Very interesting, wearing big boy britches. We are not Cowboy with a 1911! Dusty Boddams
  17. JFrank, what we did was combine two stages to make a super stage we began outside of Brazos point on the left shooting 2 flippers and 4 birds into BP for some pistol work at a few stations while retaining your shotgun to the far end of BP for a pair of dueling trees and 4 more shotgun targets . Leaving the shotgun and retaining the pistol you continued over to the school house for the balance of the pistol targets including the snuff can plate rack ,the bells and one big target at about 40-45 yards. This super stage had close to 100' of movement and 50 shots total including shotgun and took fast shooters around 100 seconds raw time. There is a video that shows Wicked Felina shooting this stage and it's on Evil Roy's Facebook page. I think everyone really enjoyed it. I don't know how to capture the video to put on here. Do you? We are going to start getting more pictures and videos of our matches I think posting fun stages will bring shooters! If not at least we're all entertained! Dusty Boddams
  18. ;D Griff, I was going to say something clever about this like why don't you just say what's on your mind? But it's so well written and makes the point so well that I just have to agree with you and I think you hit the nail on the head! You play'n this weekend? Dusty B
  19. J Frank, great minds, what can I say! I have been trying to push the rifle targets back with anyone who will listen. I've noticed a definite creeping in of target distances at some matches. Some of this can be contributed to trying to set up stages short handed etc. looks like to me going to seven rounds perhaps cutting the rifle count to 5-7 rounds and busting the distance back 35-50 yards with good sized targets would put a reason for the rifle to exist. Now as things stand the rifle is just an auxillery pistol with a stock to up the round count. How many times have you got to the rifle targets and thought heck I could do this with my pistol! Now I'm not advocating turning the rifle into a precision shoot but anyone should be able to hit a 2/3 IDPA target at 40-50 yards at speed. As for shotgun,we'll come to the Texas state match you will be entertained. As far as the 7 round pistol mags I'm not interested in these sweeps that turn into 5-6-7 round dumps. At last months match we had a stage that was 40 pistol and 10 shotgun, no double taps and no dumps. How's that for stage writing! J Frank keep up the good work. Dusty Boddams
  20. Jorge and ck, the committee based most of that 7 round decision on shooters of wild bunch wanting to shoot 7 rounds not on this mysterious group of cowboy shooters that some folks think will start shooting because of the capacity change. In other words it was done mainly for clientele that are shooters of WB now. Same way the model 12 was approved it was not to lure new shooters as much as it was to better service the WB community. This is going to be a great thing! ;D Dusty
  21. O. O. O. O. 1 2. 3 4 7 6. 5. Continuous Nevada sweep 21 or 28 rounds Start on #1 each mag -------------------------- O. O. O. O. 1 2. 3. 4 5 6. 7 Sweep but not continuous Start #1 each mag ---------------------------- O. O. O. O. O. 1 2. 3 4. 5 7 6 Nevada sweep Start on #1 each mag ---------------------------- O. O. O. O. O. 1 3. 5. 4. 2 6 7 Outside to center Start on #1 each mag ----------------------------- O. O. O. O. O. 4 3. 1. 2. 5 7 6 Center to outside Start on center each mag. ------------------------------ O. O. O. 1 2. 3 5 4 6 7 Nevada sweep Start on #1 and end on 3 With each mag -------------------------------- O. O. O. 4 1 2 3 5 6 7 Nevada sweep start and end on center each mag. ---------------------------------- These were written and well thought out sweeps that are simple and shows that 7 rounds isn't more complicated it's just more shooting and just to be clear more is good! These were written by HooDoo Brown and pardon the pun but I think he did a bang up job! Good stuff! Dusty Boddams
  22. AW, it's not a wise crack to down load the rifle. Really you could have stages calling for 7 or 5 rounds. Here is a thought, shoot the rifle less but increase the range of the rifle to actually be shooting at rifle targets instead of using the rifle as extra auxiliary pistol rounds. ;D Dusty
  23. Good places to start GJ! Back 40 to get more of what you want and less of what you don't need a 170 grain bullet gas checked running 15-1600 fps does wonders in bamm. My load is a proven match winner featuring Norman Purcellas hytek coated gas check 170 sil bullet sized at .310 with a standard win rifle primer and 18 grains of imr sr4759. Several other powders work well including 2400. 03a3's usually are easy to get shooting with reduced load ammo. Don't want to mess with all this? Call HooDoo Brown he is a fine custom ammo loader that is a bamm shooter and trophy winner, he can load 30/06 to your specifications with lead and ship it to you quick so you'll be ready for the Texas state championship bolt action military match!
