  1. ;D no noise around here because everybody shot the Oklahoma State Wild Bunch Match. Great match, great food, great folks. Three big shooting days including side matches so we were all young men having a big time shooting dawn to dusk now it is Monday and dang We feel old! Dusty
  2. Texas Doughboys Wild Bunch Action Shooting Club shoots in Bowie Texas at Gunrunner shooting range 3rd Saturday of the month at 9:00 A.M. we will have the main match and then shoot BAMM after lunch
  3. Time to get those applications in! This is shaping up to be a great match!
  4. FFF, a little different take on it but here goes - a 30 yard shot on a small ar 500 plate is safe and doesn’t have to move much to be seen and heard. Mild steel will not work. Don’t be tempted to try. To make a challenge for all shoot at 4-6” plates offhand. All you need is 3 plates/stands. Nevada sweep, regular sweep, double tap, double tap, single on last or change it up and put the last round on center. It’s not as easy as it sounds! Especially when shots are concentrated to time. I wouldn’t exceed 1500 fps and actually if this is being shot regularly 12-1300 would be great. 170 g.c. Lead Bullet of course. Basically at this velocity you can have a lot fun and you are shooting a BAMM ! You get the competition, get to play with the bolt guns and have a blast doing it! Why the heck not? Dusty
  5. Howdy all, this Saturday August 15 the Texas Doughboys will be shooting in Bowie Texas. Pure 100 proof wild bunch! We will shoot BAMM after lunch . Throw in your popgun too. Bring drinks and a sandwhich. Going to be a large time. Don’t forget the Texas wild Bunch State Championship in November. Rumor has it the dancing dots targets are showing up along with new targets the tiny dancers.......should be interesting!
  6. We have a offering we call dead mans gun at our monthly matches. You can use anything that could of been in play for one or two mags. It’s popular because nobody has enough mags for thr rarer old pistols like Lugers, frommer stop,1910 mausers etc.
  7. I would try the repops. When you step on them they will bend just like originals!🤠 HooDoo has some of the reproductions for his savage and they work just fine. Dusty
  8. Hey Trooper, are y’all shooting right now or are y’all shutdown with covid? We are going to be shooting this Saturday. First time in a while.
  9. Yep that’s what it musta been! Maybe after you print it out you could walk around to the other side of the table and see if it looks right🤠 no joke I felt really lucky just getting it posted! Computers are not my strong point.........

  12. C.N. Double! Great to hear your traveling in. This is going to be a celebration of gunfire! Thought we better answer your wish list. Oklahoma moved the southwest regional to the last weekend of October this year. They will have a 4 stage WB match at the beginning of this then all the cowboy shooting, side matches, food and prizes to keep a young man occupied and an old man feeling young!

  14. Mortman, travel to Texas or Oklahoma where the rifle targets are a minimum of 25 yards and could be out to 50. Dusty
  15. Elephant ivory! Carved for style points. 🤠 not just to shoot good but to look good doing it!
  16. Great competitor and yes he is an all around good guy! Congratulations! Dusty
  17. ;D hey okie, get you a limb saver or a pachmeyer decelerator pad. The pachmeyer is available in red or black. Both look sharp. Briley will have them in stock and they will even fit it to you!
  18. Just regular old 97’s and model 12’s. Or don’t even bother with the shotgun just use a pistol and rifle. Of course I guess if you wanted to be the coolest cat around, nothing says cool like a 42 Winchester ;D 8) might not hold enough shells but style points alone should make you the winner!
  19. JCM, it’s not a sanctioned match but rather a local club deal. There is not a tailored set of rules. What we do is use the WB rules and just replace the guns with rimfires. Get a group together and have fun! Who knows you might draw some new shooters in that will be exposed to WB and graduate them to 45’s
  20. WD, really when you get the right load and it’s clean shooting if you have a good oil that will stay on the rails and in place like Lucas gun oil a good pistol like yours will run several hundred rounds without doing anything. When I first started shooting WB after a day’s shooting the pistol had to be field stripped and cleaned before the next day. Now with cleaner powder and hitek coated bullets I can shoot a big match and a couple of small ones before I decide to clean it , but it’s still running great. That said magazines need cleaning every so often and if dropped in that talcum powder type sand it will be amazing to see how much of that can get inside.
  21. Trooper, sounds like a neat deal! At our monthly matches we sometimes have “dead mans gun” . What this allows is any pistol that could have been picked up off a battlefield. 7 rounds in the mag staged somewhere along the pistol string. Shooter lays down the empty open 1911 picks up the battlefield pistol shoots 7 lays it down and finishes the stage. Of course no advantage to the shooter but he gets to use that cool old pistol that he only has one mag for in competition at speed. Lots of cool old pistols bleed out of the woodwork including p-38’s,Lugers, 38 hammer colts, hammerless colts, savage automatics tokerovs etc. lots of fun! I would think that would be a successful side match....webleys anyone? Dusty
  22. Jorge, one more thing about original olive colored pre ww1 campaign hats. They were made by several manufacturers. That means various shades of color. Officers bought private purchase Stetsons if they had the means. Throw in sun, rain and sweat it’s easy to see lots of different colors on olive hats. Saw one hat with the color called whiskey, looked right with a medium brownish tone. Dark brown I would think would look later and black wouldn’t be seen unless the look you’re trying to portray is not military but a soldier of fortune type actor. We don’t have any fashion police in wild Bunch that I’m aware of. One interesting thing is the hat Garrison Joe has would have started out with a regular looking crease and then on campaign would have gathered water and leaked resulting in the enlisted men using the Montana crease to shed water better and later this would be adopted by the military and that’s how the campaign hat as we know it came to be. Dusty
  23. LL, the BAMM matches sound like a lot of fun! Dusty B.
  24. Yes sir. On one of my guns it was broke when I got it. Replaced it with a titanium and it lasted a while. Finally broke last year and I put a factory one in. Been working great! Look forward to shooting with you! Dusty
