Roundup July 13-14 Cleburne ,Tx.
DUSTY BODDAMS replied to DUSTY BODDAMS's topic in Wild Bunch Matches
This is shaping up to be a really fun match! Enter before June 1 and get a chance to win a pair of single action airsoft pistols and they are also giving away a ruger 10/22. Looks like a good prize table along with great food. Wild bunch stages are shaping up well and the dough boy category is going to be a blast! Let the good times roll! -
Howdy Doc, welcome to BAMM! My 303 rifles shoot lead very well. A .312-.313 bullet is what you need and Norm Purcella makes a g.c. Hitek coated bullet in that diameter. His phone number is 575-703-0391. Around 1500fps seems to be the sweet spot on the old battle rifles. I’ve heard of some clubs using paper and Fmj ammo and if that’s it or no BAMM time to get out the paper! Several cardboard idpa targets could be setup at various distance and shot at speed. The pain would be taping the targets between shooters. Dusty Boddams

LV,we have shot 2 pop gun side matches and I’ve gotta say these things are a lotta fun! Last match We based the stage on 7 rounds sitting in chair, pistol in hand. From about 6 to 7 yards at the beep engage small autoreset target then engage the 6 static targets. We did this a few times and it was really entertaining. Dusty

K31 has been called the rolls Royce of mil surp guns due to build quality. It’s built to such close tolerance that hand loads must be absolute best quality to function 100%. 03a3 would be the most popular along with the 1903 Springfield. All the mausers based on 98 action are great for BAMM yugo 24,24/47 and model 48 represent a good quality accurate reliable rifle at less than half the cost of a comparable 03. These mausers are all 8mm and easy to loadfor and get brass. Bullets that are hitek coated and g.c. Are a phone call away. Remember that it’s got to be original issue type rifle on outside to be legal, no sporterized stocks and must have as issued battle sights. Buy the best bore you can get your hands on! Remember a polished turd is a turd that’s polished! Look over all the old bolt guns and it will boil down to this for foreign rifles,do you like a straight bolt or a bent bolt better? All the mauser sights are about the same with minor differences. Question on the 03 or 03a3 will be do you like a barrel or a peep sight? Another option are the argentine rifles in 7.65 x53 again easy to load for uses a .312 bullet, brass is easy as it can be bought or simple to make from 8mm. Whatever your buying buy on condition. Welcome to BAMM! Dusty B

;D ;D Roundup in Cleburne Texas July 13-14 is the Lone star frontier shooting club annual match. This match is a 10 stage cowboy match at one end of the range. At the other end of the range for the first time simultaneously will be held a Two day 10 stage Wild Bunch match featuring a Doughboy category along with all the other WB categories and we will have a BAMM and some other great side matches. This is going to be a fun and entertaining match with doughboy being a category plus all the other categories. Relaxed summer costuming. Sure it’s warm but we have lots of shade and plenty of cold water. Make plans to attend! Entry forms at Lone star frontier shooting club 0_LONE_STAR_ROUND_UP_2019__02.12.2019.pdf

Not WB legal but certainly in WB era - Winchester 1907

LV, cool old rifle. They are good shooters at reasonable ranges. I have one of these and three 10 round mags. The dang magazines nearly outpace the rifles in cost! Tried one of the aftermarket 10 rounders and it left a lot to be desired. Dusty An afterthought but the 351 is a powerful cartridge it’s basically a 357 maximum with a .351 bullet. It still deserves a place at the table! -
I don’t run full length guide rods in any 1911 I own. Can’t clear a bad jam as easy. No improvement to accuracy. I think it’s a solution looking for a problem 8) Others might have a higher opinion

Texas State Championship new added side match!
DUSTY BODDAMS replied to DUSTY BODDAMS's topic in The Wild Bunch Wire
I’ve been asked a by a few folks about lead ammo. Magtech makes factory lead 32acp. Anybody shot any of this? Another option is HooDoo Brown, he has bought himself a 32 savage and had a sack of lead pistol ammo in 32acp. His loaded ammo was fired out of 2 savages a colt 1903 hammerless and a 1910/22 browning. No jambs and shot as well or better than the fmj. I’ve already shot a fair amount of his 380acp and it’s accurate and reliable as well. -
BW, if you have access to an ultrasonic cleaner the mod 12 could be broke down trigger group intact remove the stock and let it run a couple of cycles.
-
BW, you might take that gun apart and feel up in the cut of the frame where the bolt locks and also on the top hump of the bolt where it locks into frame. Could be some metal burrs or peening on the back lip of the bolt hump. If so smooth it out careful to not take of any material other than what it takes to get rid of the burr. Dusty B

Texas State Championship new added side match!
DUSTY BODDAMS replied to DUSTY BODDAMS's topic in The Wild Bunch Wire
;D thanks Goody! I bet you have several of these little 32acp’s laying around. Join us sometime! Dusty -
Wild Bunch on the Brazos the Texas State Championship is in the planning stages and the newest offering will be a POP gun match. That’s right ! Pocket pistols! Being how we are wild bunch we are doing a side match using the types of pocket pistols that would be popular in that era. So pull out the pocket hammerless 32 auto colt or that savage 1905 and let’s play! Remember lead bullets only! Rules in the attachment. POP.txt

Seeking advice on CMP for an M1 Garand
DUSTY BODDAMS replied to C.N. Double's topic in The Wild Bunch Wire
C.n. Contact cmp and tell them what’s going on. They will make it right. Watch the video on field stripping. Definitely going to get the Garand used in Texas! We are Working on the idea of using the Garand on 2 stages to expand its use. We are planning some other side matches also that will be new this year. Hondo Tweed as you know is the match director of the Oklahoma state WB match. He is very robust in supporting BAMM, doughboy and he has some other fun and entertaining side matches. Call him and tell you would be excited to shoot a GAMM side match! He is interested in talking about doing one if he has enough time at the blackpowder range. Does not hurt to voice that we are all in full support of him and would support a GAMM if he chooses to have one. I think I know for a fact that the moving target, beetle baileys jeep that runs on rails built by EJ is going to be there for BAMM and it is a blast! You’ll have a large time at red dirt! Look forward to seeing you. Dusty Boddams -
Seeking advice on CMP for an M1 Garand
DUSTY BODDAMS replied to C.N. Double's topic in The Wild Bunch Wire
CN, set the clip on the table and start dropping rounds in number seven will be tight 8 will be tighterpush them in from the top of the clip. Way easier than trying to slide them in from the front. Rounds should be against the back of the clip . Lots of different clips out there. I bought a bunch from cmp. They all work great. In a safe area you could run a clip thru the rifle hand ejecting them and see if it works better. Have you had it apart yet? -
Seeking advice on CMP for an M1 Garand
DUSTY BODDAMS replied to C.N. Double's topic in The Wild Bunch Wire
C.n., congratulations! Sounds like you have the perfect rifle. Watch the videos on how to disassemble and beware of that Garand thumb ailment everyone talks about. ;D. If you need any load help for lead we have the recipe. Seems like you got your rifle really fast and that 1945 date is cool! Dusty -
;D aw yes the 2019 Texas State Championship Wild Bunch on the Brazos will be held October 18,19 and 20. Several new side matches are in the works! BAMM and GAMM in all their glory along with 10 great stages. Something else interesting is the rough riders of Oklahoma are having the Oklahoma state wild bunch championship October 4,5 and 6 so October is going to be great! Start making plans now to attend!

GAMM inaugural match at the Texican Rangers
DUSTY BODDAMS replied to Grouchy Spike's topic in The Wild Bunch Wire
Garand Action Military Match. (GAMM) a great and fun addition to BAMM. “More bang for the buck” as they say. You’ve already got a built in clientele with Several Competitors owning and shooting garands that will be excited to have an event to shoot them at. I’m predicting a big success! -

BAMM Rifle in the Cowboy Chronicle
DUSTY BODDAMS replied to J. Frank Norfleet's topic in The Wild Bunch Wire
LV, if space is tight, say 35-50 yards just go to smaller targets. It’s still BAMM or doughboy. If good targets are laying around that are 6 to 8” that will supply plenty of competition. I was going to ask about pop🤠 makes sense now! Clever! Also I guess they are pop guns compared to our 45’s. Great idea turning the WB match into 8 stages over 2 day’s. Really good thinking! I bet you have shooters that just shoot that. As said before WB competitors are shooters, that’s what they show up for along with the good folks they get to compete with. This is why we try to have our main match along with the 10 side matches this past year. CN Double shot everyone of them and he had a large time! Heck of a good guy and a heck of a shooter!
