  1. Doc, years ago I had an extended mag release and was having an issue with the mag not staying in the pistol. Tore it apart checked everything out. Couldn’t find any reason. Started paying really close attention on seating the magazine. Same problem.... didn’t have problem every time just sporadically........so I got smart! Numbered all my mags and checked each one carefully I actually loaded and shot them. Everything worked great! Didn’t know what caused it but it was fixed! After all this work I decided to buckle on the old pistola and practice a little. Seating a magazine I placed the pistol in the holster heard a click ........the new holster was built exacting and stiff. Seating the pistol pushed the mag release button.........sometimes it’s not the gun!
  2. Howdy Doc, I would imagine legal because rubber pads could be ordered from the factory along with shotgun butts. Powers that be will be chiming in shortly for official confirmation. Stay tuned.
  3. Pull it completely down. Check the firing pin. Really scrub it out and get clean inside. Good quality oil everywhere it moves. 22/23” is a good length. The 26” is not to long. If cut to 18.5” they tend to feel a little Whippy. Like GJ says cut off the polychoke. From behind the gun it looks and feels like a coffee can stuck on the end anyway. Now they are match ready! Enjoy!
  4. LV, yes rem 141 would be legal as it’s just a continuation of a model 14 with beefier wood and a production date beginning 1935. Popgun is just a grass roots item at this time. It does get played a lot in Texas and Oklahoma and I’m sure other areas. Introduce it to wild Bunch shooters in your area and see if it takes off.
  5. DH, those are scarce rifles. Congratulations on having one! Those guns were modified by the govt Arsenal. Actually several unique things were done to them. My understanding was about 4000 done at The Phillipine Arsenal and I think there were about that many converted by the Springfield arsenal. I agree with GJ. It’s plenty old enough and was an as issued arm. I see no problem with it and you are welcome anytime to bring it to Texas. I’m sure we will have the big boys chime in as whether legal or not for a final ruling but looks great to me. As a side note I saw a video about GAF and there was a cat that could load that thing about as fast as I use stripper clips in an 03. A sight to behold! Dusty
  6. Artemus, congratulations! 86’s are great rifles. You can load it for rabbits to elephants and all in between
  7. As K R says ammo problems are common and so are magazine problems. What kind of 1911 do you have?
  8. Howdy all! Texas Doughboys are shooting Saturday. Looks like great weather and we are expecting a large time! Make plans to attend, bring a sack lunch if you’re inclined to eating. We will shoot a 4 stage match, break for lunch and shoot some BAMM and other other fun stuff. One of the stages will be a shotgun combat match. Bring your shell belt!
  9. Introducing Doughboy and Teddy Roosevelt The newest sass recognized wild bunch side matches To say that wild Bunch Action shooters enjoy great and well thought out side matches would be an understatement. WB competitions featuring innovative side matches are highly attended and anticipated. BAMM (Bolt Action Military Match) has achieved an unparalleled success and is represented at most large matches. Competitors enjoy wild bunch and BAMM. The next logical step is Doughboy ! The newest side match removes the pistol caliber rifle and replaces it with the BAMM rifle shooting at distant targets along with the 1911 pistol and shotgun. As a bonus wild Bunch shooters are also treated to the Teddy Roosevelt class which is a rifle caliber lever action rifle replacing the pistol caliber rifle. This interesting side match allows some great rifles such as the 76,86,94,95 Winchester’s along the savage 99’s and the rifle caliber marlins. Receiver sights are legal as are the model 14 Remington pump rifles in calibers 25 Remington,30 Remington,32 Remington and the 35 Remington. More details are in the newly updated WB shooters handbook. This pair of great side matches allows for a mix of shooting on a stage or multiple stages. The wild bunch committee should receive a round of applause for embracing these extraordinary side matches and delivering them to the wild bunch shooting community.
  10. We are on for tomorrow at 1:00 throw in a bann rifle and we will shootem up!
  11. Howdy EP! I think it would be available sometime because of all the media that Michael Bane is involved in. He is an interesting person who is actually a shooter and a pleasure to be around. He has a site MichaelBane.tv that has a lot of neat articles, videos and podcasts you could look over and ask them how to see it. That would get you a correct answer instead of guess at best. Dusty Boddams
  12. HooDoo That’s right! Interesting thing is we did that match in November and Wolf Bane already has it together and about to be shown on TV. Who knows ,if it’s only 30 seconds of exposure for the great sport of wild bunch that’s a win for wild Bunch. Anything else is a bonus! Get the popcorn out!
  13. ;Dlike the title says we will be having our first match of 2021! Jan 16. Come on out generally have a large time! Don’t forget your BAMM rifle........
  14. HJ, thank you sir. As for the barrels being to modern. We solved that by a trip to the local harbor freight we bought 4x15 painters canvas tarps for 10.00 and cut them in half. Took a trash can rubber band to hold them wrapped around the can. Instant old west! Dusty
  15. Couple of things the Texas Doughboys are really proud of. 10 ladies shooting WB with us! Plus one more signed up. 40 actual shooters with a total of 48 registered(last year 30) TEA stands for target engagement area. ( this really helped with all the movement) Using the food grade barrels staked to the ground to place used long guns in. ( helped with So much forward movement etc.) called it pickle as in “ pickle the shotgun” worked awfully slick. Dusty B
  16. LL, wish you could have made it. We completed our best wild bunch match that we have ever had a hand in doing. We had great side matches, a 12 stage main match with lots of movement lots of targets and not one dump target in sight. We shot one stage around cover another shots had to be made thru a pallet wall slats. We had dueling trees, falling plate racks, 11 1/2” squares on chain, target engagement areas (TEA) from 8 to 18 yards. We used barrels to put rifles and shotguns in to have full use of the range in front of us. A prize table stacked with nearly 2000.00 worth of great things including a full Kirkpatrick wild bunch rig! To top it all off shooting gallery tv show was interviewing Evil Roy and they came out to the range on Friday and Saturday and did a bunch of filming of our side matches and main match on Saturday! If that’s not enough we also had a pcc match Saturday evening to relax after the main match. Sunday we shot 6 more great stages awarded trophies and called it a day.
  17. HJ, man I wish you could make it! This match would be right up your alley! Dusty
