I check my mail yesterday and find this jewel in the mail box! Thank you SASS, The Wild Bunch, the WBAS Committee and the wonderful ladies in the SASS headquarters!

Page 4 of the Shooter's handbook says steel frame required.

There are lots of very skilled gunsmiths out there. And lots of very talented gun builders. Chuck is one of those I consider an actually gun maker. If this photo posts, it is a bin of his barrels. Like his frames and slides, he starts with a raw forging and makes all the major components. He does buy a lot of the smaller pieces because it is much more cost effective. He and I have had many discussions about that. he would very much like to make every single piece in his guns. I have always thought I knew a lot about 1911s. Then I started talking to Chuck. I know next to nothing!

Chuck is a personal and dear friend of mine and I hope you use him. You will not be disappointed.
-
I don't know how backed up Chuck is, but two months on a custom from strap checkering is not bad! I would consider getting my name on the list for that gun smith.
-
Try Chuck Warner at Elite Warrior Armament in Albuquerque. cvwinabq@live.com Tell him Boggus sent you. Not sure how far behind he is but he does amazing work.

If I could find a 25 or 12 LW at a decent price, I would extend it just for the fun of it.

No can do. I've asked about it and the Model 25. Answer was no.

1911 military holster question
Boggus Deal replied to Lone roc ranger's topic in The Wild Bunch Wire
There are some minor differences between those holsters. Probably better info at some of the sites that specialize in that sort of thing. Legal for use? Absolutely! Competitive? Not even close..... -
Silvertip, thank you! You shot a great match and it's always a pleasure shooting with you! Boggus

First, I want to say to the Winter Range committee and Arizona Rangers that I cannot thank you enough for hosting such a wonderful match!!!! I am always in awe of the way the whole match is ran. From registration to the awards and everything in between! Been going since 2010 and overall it keeps getting better and better. Second, to my friends and competitors that help make it such a great match! I can't imagine shooting this sport without all of you! I can't begin to name all of you! Lastly, to the Wild Bunch Committee; Happy Jack, Texas Jack Morales and Evil Roy. Thank you all for seeing that we get to play! Boggus

Oh, Allie, Darling, do you ever know the way to a man's heart!!! :)
-
Stages were good but needed more pistol shooting and further targets. Almost felt like this was Cowboy with a 1911..... And Winter range still treats WBAS like a Side match. Our resident WB only shooter didn't get a ticket for the door prize drawing or one of the great range bags.

One hell of a bogus deal!! Thank you, brother!!!
-
Many, many thanks, Dusty. I had a great time and I am not yet sure how I snuck by Silver Tip by so few points!! It was great to shoot with him! I got to see my girl, Lady Jane, come in second in Ladies Modern for her first time shooting Wild Bunch at Winter Range. We had a great posse and a great time!

Answered in the other post but will reiterate it here. The best possible brass and ammo you have! One bad piece of brass will ruin your match.
-
Will, The biggest reason for DQs is moving with the slide down. From time to time, folks will lay down a loaded gun or a pistol with the slide closed and not lock it back before shooting the next gun. Just keep an eye on those things.
-
Will, while I certainly can't add anything about the rules, they are pretty clear, I will give you some shooter advice. If at all possible put the gun down with an EMPTY magazine in place and lay it on its right side, with the slide lock and mag button facing up. The will help ensure that the slide stays locked back.
-
Welcome to the fire! You'll find out that it's a bit more civil and adult over here. As for Winter Range, come, have fun and just listen and learn. Read the current handbook and feel free to ask any questions you have! Boggus

That was added, otherwise the barrel would be blank. Cut it and shoot it!
-
How is the barrel marked for choke? If it says anything, then the poly choke was added after it left the factory. I have had several factory installed ones and the barrel was not marked for a choke. And like Wild Bodie said, unless it is mint, cut it and shoot it.

Same here. Anybody that shoots any Wild Bunch match has my envy! I've been close. Very close but never done it. However, that is going to change!
