  1. Wilson system on top with nylon buffer pad. Springco system on bottom. The Wilson has a SOLID, full length guide rod. Perfectly legal in Modern. The Springco has a springloaded, recoiling absorbing guide rod which is not legal in Wild Bunch. Having used them both extensively, I cannot see a recoil reduction. I have seen the nylon buffers go south.
  2. Having used the Wilson system and the Springco system extensively in 3 gun and other shooting sports, I cannot see a recoil reduction with either. However, I have seen the plastic shock buffs cause problems. With the gun properly set up, you don't need the padding to prevent battering. Paying attention to springs is much more important. Like Joe said, I believe the Wilson system to be legal in Modern.
  3. Mmmmm, that would be the trigger ways, I would suppose. Even the mag well is a long reach for a mill. Trigger track and magwell are the easy machining. And you wouldn't use a mill.
  4. Happy Jack, we will be at SHOT! Look forward to seeing you!
  5. You got that right, Dusty! Every day!! And I didn't dig the ore or forge it. A man has to know his limitations!
  6. Some folks like to use google and Wikipedia for their information. Some of us build 1911s. My future Wild Bunch 1911. There will be some very interesting internal technology in this gun!
  7. I've been running an 18 lb spring. I have fun a 16 lb.
  8. It's usually not a problem. As a T/O, I try to remind a Model 12 shooter to declare it. I use a bandana for my own self. There are some T/Os who ho out of their way to not help the shooter but they are extremely rare. Remember, Model 12s have won Winter Range and EOT for the last few years.
  9. Also, check Bone Orchard. Not sure if they're loading Auto yet but they have a great 45 Colt load for the rifle, if that is your rifle caliber.
  10. Winter Range and EOT this year both had 12 round SG stages. If you don't have a shotgun, get a model 12 and don't look back! One bit of advice, never put your empty mags back in your belt after a stage. Somehow, they will end up being pulled at the wrong time when you need full mags.
  11. Oh, it'll happen, Blackfoot. And then when they find out it don't work worth a pile of steaming s***, They'll whine about no gunsmiths and no parts and why isn't someone doing something to make it work.
  12. In my experience, 3 gunners are usually very willing to help or loan a shooter a gun. IPSC, on the other hand, not so much.
  13. I would consider it legal to use. However, not very efficient. Were I there and knew the situation, I would offer to loan the shooter a gun. That exact situation happened to me at WR 2015. Had replaced the plunger spring for the slide lock. In pre match testing, it worked great. Worked good first couple of stages. Then slide would not lock back on 50+% of the magazines. I had to make sure it was locked back when moving or staging it. Cost me a lot time locking it back and the mental frustration of it affected my match.
  14. I have not found the flags at all necessary. i know there are people who like them. I don't. That being said, I think I have a few.
  15. Hey Norfleet! Got my little range at home setup since Sundance pushed up my berm.
  16. If it isn't worn out, it will work just fine. Like Norfleet said, it will probably need about 8-10" less barrel....
  17. In my experience, Trail Boss can be temperature sensitive. Running as light a load as possible in 38s, They run great in summer and a little erratic in colder weather. I upped my charge to compensate. Have not run TB in 45 Auto so can't comment there. I would suspect that a load heavy enough to reliably run the gun would not be that temp sensitive.
  18. I have a 2 3/4' carrier with a flag if someone is in need of one.
  19. Do you know what issue it's in? I'll go a hunting!
  20. Samuel, Wilson Combat also sells finished gold bead sights. I like the SDM ones better.
  21. Thank you, Norfleet. I think it was a great match overall. Lots of laughter and lots of good shooting!
  22. Allie darlin', I use a checkered flag bandana type thing. Let's me know and everyone else know that I have a Model 12. Also, the checkered flag is a mental winner!!
  23. GJ, Try a 230 at 100 fps less than the 200. Time your splits. I was a non believer until I proved it to myself.
