  1. There is one independent custom loader I can recommend he is out of grandbury ,tx his alias is HooDoo Brown. I'm sure he could make you what you want ,he is an avid WB competitor and a good man to boot!
  2. ER, now that sounds like a heck of a match! 30 rounds the norm I think is giving the WB shooters what they all love and that's the 45! Dusty Boddams
  3. JFN ,now is that you on the far right and you dyed your beard :o? Ha ha ha dusty merry Christmas !
  4. Wow! Christmas already. New Years almost here. I wish everyone a blessed holiday and a happy new year! 2015 should be the greatest year for wild bunch yet, let's make it happen. Dusty Boddams
  5. KR, maybe ER or GOATNECK will chime in but I think if a magnet attracts they probably will not allow it. As evil Roy said fmjs are fine on his targets steel core I would think not so much. Dusty
  6. No comps. Just a standard 5 series 70 type barrel. Dusty
  7. KS, sounds like you have the right load. That 600 yard mark does make a lot of sense. That usually is about where every rifle winds up at shooting the loads we use. We shoot BAMM after every monthly WB match and it seems like everyone really enjoys it. Great thing about BAMM is it can be just as challenging at 80 yards as it would be at 130. Last weekend we shot BAMM as 10 shots from 2 location any position. Rifle empty in your hands stripper clips on table. At the beep load and alternate between 2 target at 70 And 80 yards.move to the window at other end of room reload sweep 5 targets from about 95 yards down to 70 yards. Lots of neat old rifles showing up around here. Brought out my "new" 104 year old argentine mauser carbine that I just acquired and had a blast. Dusty
  8. Ks, some of the rifles will feed flats like water,no problems and others are just contrary. When I first started messing with the bolt guns my early 03 would feed flat nose about 90 percent of the time. I have some rifles that will not feed anything reliable but the "pointy" bullet. So for folks that want something to work right now and they don't want to experiment I always recommend the spire point to mimic factory mil spec loads of course with reduced charges for our game. These old bolt guns teach lessons all the time. ;D! Hey,by the way what speed are you running the flat point polys and what powder did you settle on? I'm sold on 4759 right now. It's doing so well in my rifles I thought about putting a spoonful in my coffee ;D :o. Dusty
  9. Howdy LL, good to hear from you. I'm running 200 grain out of mine but the 303 will handle 165-70 grain equally well. Most important for consistent feeding will be to avoid flat point and stick with spire or round nose in some cases. Dusty
  10. ;D bogus, I do know that the small primer is consistent, in stopping my 650 :o. Dusty
  11. Norm now has a bullet mold that throws a 165 grain spire point with the aluminum gas check. This should be a great bullet for BAMM ......
  12. ;D NK, I bet the tough parts break'n it open! ;D
  13. ;D ;D ;D LD, you scared me for a minute , I thought you said you stuck a banana in it! Well now having 18 model 97s should be enough. That should equal out to 6 going to the big match. (Assuming a 12 stage match) 5 at the gunsmith getting them worked on. 4 for parts to keep the others running. 2 safe queens and 1 to prop the hood open on your pickup while you're work'n on it! Dusty
  14. JB , ;D great shotgun no question there. I have one you can tell who the inventor was by the way it handles. Better than a model 12? Well that's why you have dodge, Chevy and ford. A featherweight model 37 is a pleasure to carry. A model 12 is a pleasure to shoot!
  15. Plus one for what bogus said and I also think the model 12 is exactly what WB needs lots built and lots still available. Just think how much you'll save in gas not hauling 3 to 5 at a time ;D " the finest pump ever built"! Dusty Boddams
  16. Pg, the bottom line is if your shooting a cowboy match with a 1911 then you are not shooting a wild bunch match but a cowboy match with a 1911. Could be great fun and you would be playing with the 45 and getting trigger time which are all great things. I'm embarrassed at some of the responses posted on the wire , civility is dead to some. Of course it's a lot easier to be rude when nothing is said face to face or on a phone anymore. It's best to find like minded individuals and at the very least have your own WB posse if you were going to have WB at a cowboy match. Funny thing is our monthly WB match is shot on the same day as our cowboy match both matches are stand alone we all get done about the same time and have lunch then awards and then anyone interested whether a cowboy or a WB shooter goes back down to the range and participates in a BAMM competition. We all have fun and there is not a us vs them attitude. Dusty Boddams
  17. JB, thank you for posting the link. I need to get to where I can do that too. DustyBoddams
  18. CDR, I'm a little slow to second but hoodoo brown that is loading the BAMM rifle ammo will also custom load the WB 45acp ammo for you his company name and phone number are in the post "loaded BAMM ammo ". He loads high quality match ammo at reasonable rates. Dusty Boddams
  19. ;D ;D big news! Custom ammo and reloading services LLC . Is now offering to custom build BAMM lead match grade ammunition . This loaded to your specifications with your brass or his. The owner of this company is Hoodoo Brown an avid wild bunch shooter and very strong BAMM competitor. Shooting lead is now not a problem for competitors that either do not hand load or they just don't want to mess with the rifle loading. I'm not profiting from this in any way but I think it's really neat that hoodoo is now going to accommodate BAMM competitors and supply a service that will help open the door to more shooters. His phone numbers are 817-326-3855 and cell number is 432-661-3745 if you don't reach him just leave a message. Dusty Boddams
  20. I have been working on locating some high quality bullets that are more reasonable in price compared to whom I have been using. The only "choke point" I see in BAMM to keep it from growing is bullet availability and price. Through a very fortuitous encounter I learned of this company. Traditional lead cast bullets with an aluminum gas check. I had never used a aluminum gas check and had my reservations about them. Problems so far have been unfounded. They shoot just as good as the copper gc and leave no residue with the amount I have shot so far. These bullets are half price compared to what I have been using with very reasonable shipping. That translates into twice as much shooting! I'm not selling the bullets or making money off the sale of them. I just want everyone to know about them . If your happy with what you are using then no reason to change but here is his info quality cast bullets gentlemans name is Norm and his phone number is 575-625-2825. Email is npurcella56@gmail.com right now suitable for BAMM he has a 308 spire point with gc and same bullet type for 303 British. The 308 will be sized in .309 or .310(my favorite) and the Brit is sized in .313 he is going to add some more bullets for us but the other molds he ordered are about 6 weeks out. He also has 7 mm spire. Myself I have only had 100 percent function with the spire point bullet. The flat nose bullet has not worked well for me out of my 03s and mausers. Dusty
  21. Open invitation to anyone that would like to use this article to promote wild bunch please feel free to republish. Dusty Boddams
  22. I still think that we need more exposure. There are so many folks that don't really know what we do. Telling folks one time won't get the job done people have be reminded several times before a point is committed to memory AND then they have to have a place to go try it. I don't know if it's equipment or not because at my home club we have an open class that is defined as ANY pump shotgun, any 1911 and ANY SASS legal rifle. I think we have had 2 shooters in 3 years for that category ........as far as costuming goes when you go to any other type of match they are in costume. Any time you buy special clothes to shoot or hunt out of that's costuming. Look at all the "tactical" clothes out there COSTUMING! ;D Dusty boddams
  23. Mc, hey that's right you are famous! So you found a copy. ;D have you framed it yet?
  24. ER, main thing is don't wear fuzzy chaps AND shorts at the same time!;D ;D ;D!
  25. Jfrank, yes, gosh sass is gray but I've been a sass member since 1991 and it's always been gray. We have never been young as a group. Why don't you tell your old friend that the drinks are on you! In other words take him and furnish the gear and when he sees how we do things let's see what he thinks of it then. I can see how an idpa shooter might glaze over because he would be shooting ESP class with his 1911 and holding 9 rounds at start and then tactical reload all the way through the stage because that's his only gun. They never shoot anything else at all the idpa matches I've been to. Funny thing is I quit shooting those matches because I got bored shooting only one gun. I keep on thinking we are the greatest gun game in search of an audience. I also keep on thinking if we can get the word out there in front of shooters that we will pick up more competitors as time goes by. Of course it sounds like a scape goat because we have all been shooting WB all this time but maybe with the component market loosening up we will get more shooters. Could not guess why we didn't have more shooters at the Texas state, heck of a fun match with all the trimmings. Weird thing com'n atcha the regional match over in English Texas ( just the other side of the end of the earth for you) the WB match had I think around 80-100 shooters. So I guess sass shooters will shoot WB in conjunction but not stand alone?
