  1. Are you talking about in the pistol or the rifle?? I don't use them but use 200 RP in rifle and 230 H&G TC's in pistol.
  2. Myself and most who have shot the 1911 competitively for many uses drop the slide on a magazine of ammo using the slide stop. I do NOT recommend an extended slide stop. It usually causes more problems than it solves.
  3. NO, but you might put a request on the Wild West Arts forum on the regular wire. A number of leather workers follow it and might make you one.
  4. If the hammer was not fully down or on the safety notch it is a SDQ.
  5. First of all in a Sanctioned Wild Bunch Match such a a State of above match you CANNOT re-engage a knockdown that does not fall. You will not be re-engaging ANY KD target at WR. As for what to do IF for some reason you complete engaging all required targets and you still have live rounds in the pistol you must completely clear it of all LIVE rounds and lock the slide open before staging it safely on a prop. You CANNOT fire extra rounds down range. That is a "P".
  6. Both JT Wild and Silvertip have shot Wild Bunch at WR clean once each. Viper this year was the first shooter to shoot Wild Bunch at EOT clean.
  7. There is no doubt that the Redding dies are the best. They are all I use for rifle rounds from 218 Bee all the way to 50BMG. (I do have some Wilson dies for benchrest.) As for a case lube in my opinion Spray on Hornady One Shot is one of the WORST case lubes available. I only use it on 45 Colt and 454 Casull pistol brass. On difficult cases I only Use Imperial Sizing Wax.
  8. Colt Gold Cup pistols are legal in the Modern category. They are quite popular.
  9. Los Angeles Silhouette Club. There are some VERY knowledgable lead bullet casters who post information on their website.
  10. I know of only ONE person shooting Wild Bunch that uses a 185 grain bullet. The reason?? Hundreds of already loaded rounds left over from their USPSA days. With that light bullet and the high velocity required to meet USPSA PF they are not very happy with their performance in Wild Bunch. 230 is by far the most popular weight followed by 200. The "felt recoil" nicer with the heavy bullet. I can't help with load information since I have only used a 230 grain bullet and WST in 45ACP for MANY years.
  11. Unlike is CAS in Wild Bunch the rear diamond on the Marlin sights does NOT have to be blacked out.
  12. Boggus, As you know I left early but was told Lyn picked up my little ribbons for side matches. I don't know who won anything else.
  13. I think both the '97's and 12's that are tuned do well in WBAS matches. While I'm certainly not a World or Natl. Champion I did win the speed Shotgun at the recent Territorial with my old '97. Shoot what you like and can find. As long as it functions well the SG won't win a WBAS match. It is the 1911 that wins or looses the matches (in my opinion).
  14. Two Dot, OOOPPS, was busy thinking about rules in another handgun sport when writing. Fixed my post.
  15. Promocop, yes. The rules are the rules. Another potential problem is that the scale being used at the match as well as the chrono is the Official equipment for that match and the results are not appealable. Not every scale or chrono is exactly the same so cutting it close may result in a DQ. Along the lines of "close": A member of the WBAS Committee was DQ'd awhile back for ammo that tested 149. The minimum is 150.
  16. I have asked Misty to schedule TWO WBAS RO classes at the Convention since both you two and Smokie and Honey also want to teach one there. Will have to wait and see what she does. Hopefully both will be on the schedule so there will be plenty of opportunities to attend.
  17. Boggus, remind me that we need to discuss them at the Convention and make a final decision to print in the new rulebook in January.
  18. We will discuss the BAMM rules at the Convention in Dec. Most of the Ambassadors will be there as well as several match directors. Hopefully Goatneck will be able to attend. What, if any, modifications, or additions to the rules will be decided then. The plan is to include the rules in the January 2016 Handbook issue.
  19. Since the BAMM rifle matches are a Side Match is WBAS the rules are NOT shown in the Official Shooter's Handbook. The rules as currently codified are shown on this Forum. They were written by Goatneck Clem. They were written extremely tight to avoid "rule creep" as seen so often in CAS. The Committee has NOT taken an official position on them. That being said: In my PERSONAL OPINION I would say the rifle is illegal as configured and that painting the front sight would also be illegal as the rules are currently written. I would, however, expect the rifle to be allowed at almost all "Non-Sanctioned" matches.
  20. They should be fine. 1911 barrels have very shallow rifling and you need a bit harder bullet to work well. You might want to check for leading after about 50. If no leading use them.
  21. As far as I am concerned if there ISN'T a magazine in it it isn't a magazine pouch per the intent of the rules. I see people carry the magazine they intend to insert in the pistol to the loading table tucked in their pistol belt which is an illegal place for a magazine but the stage hasn't started so it is a NO CALL. I agree with others and if it is empty I would call the rig legal.
  22. Nellie, there was a thread on the other wire a few days ago about that issue. I know many of us hate them. I believe it was Deuce Stevens group that put flat tables on top of them and everyone who used them really liked the idea.
  23. Allie, there are two fundamental methods in use to release the slide. The use of the slide lock (what you called a button) and the "slingshot" method you were shown at the class. Law enforcement almost exclusively uses the slingshot method. Competition shooters almost exclusively use the slide lock method. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. Slide lock is quicker. Slingshot builds memory for clearing malfunctions. Many other things can be said in support of each method.
  24. I've known Wiley casually for 30+ years. He used to shoot a good bit. His health has relegated him to only writing and some testing in recent years. He is a good friend of my good friend Wayne Novak. That is our connection.
