  1. Happy Jack is right on the money with his load suggestions. It is a proven load that a vast majority of the top shooters in Wild Bunch use.
  2. GS Change to Federal Gold Medal Large Rifle Primers and see the improved accuracy
  3. Great Video..........Well Done Skinny
  4. CND Keep in mind the higher elevation ( above sea level) velocity will change and point of impact will change also. Where Dusty and I live elevation is about 650 above sea level.
  5. If the Cartridge Cutoff is not installed correctly if will not function properly. The receiver is slotted and recessed for the Cartridge Cutoff to cycle correctly. The forward end is inserted into the recess of the receiver. I get M12's in the shop from customers that have incorrectly installed the cutoff and their guns will not function properly.
  6. Good information there thanks for sharing. Bullseye Powder has been an excellent pistol powder for the 45ACP. We used it in precision Bullseye matches for many years. As new Powders were developed big improvements were made. The transition from Bullseye powder started with 700X. Then 452 and 231 powders came on the seen. Each of the new powders had some improvement over the previous ones. When Winchester Super Target came on the seen it was the go too Powder for the shotguners. Then the competition pistol shooters jumped on the band wagon. Its advantages were very clean burning, light recoil and a narrow deviation for FPS. In the days pistol shooting world it is still one of the go to Powders.
  7. Boggus Deal is correct The Swedish Mauser M96 and M38 both are legal rifles for BAMM and yes legal for Winter Range
  8. Capt Sam Evans is shooting Wild Bunch only
  9. CND Looks like you are headed in the right direction. The Grand Rifles are lots of fun to shoot. There are 8 of us at our club that have been shooting these rifles for a number of years and in the last few years we have included them in our Wild Bunch side Matches. The Bullets you have ordered from Norm are the bullets we all use. 170gr GC .310 Hi-Tek with 35.8grs of IMR 4895 with either Winchester Large Rifle or what I use is Federal Gold Medal Large Rifle. This is a proven load. All of us at our club are using this load data. A number of South Texas shooters are using the same load data. It will produce velocities between 1800 and 1900 FPS. My gun is running about 1850. The accuracy with this load is excellent AS you know different guns will produce different velocities. At our state match there were 2 rifles that shot about a 100 rounds each during the GAMM Matches. There was 0 leading and fowling in either Rifle. We have found lower velocities will not cycle the actions on the Grands and higher velocities are not needed for the distances and the targets we use. All these rifles are stock actions and the springs have not lightened to shoot these reduced loads. I shoot my rifle out to 450 yards with these loads and its a hammer. CND are you shooting WB at Winter Range hope to see you there.
  10. EJ WE will have tables and rest available. The shooter has a choice on how he delivers his 10 Rounds down range. There is no restrictions on Shooter positions. If you use cross sticks you might need a mallet to secure them firm in the ground.
  11. " Wild Bunch on the Brazos " Texas State WB Championships Oct 18, 19 & 20th, 2019 Cleburne, Tex C V V Club
  12. Well Folks the dates are set and preparations are underway for the Best WB Championship yet. We will have more details forth coming. " Wild Bunch on the Brazos " Oct 18, 19, 20th, 2019. Did I mention Side Matches we will have a boat load of Side Matches. You might even see something new this year. Stay Tuned............
  13. EJ We will conduct side matches with Fastest 1911, Rifle, Shotgun, Long Range 1911 and BAMM. Have been off the Wire for a few days.
  14. GS That sounds great. It will make for a good addition to the BAMM Competition. One of your Club Officers call me a while back inquiring on the GAMM Matches that we put on. I think he liked what he heard. Good Luck and Good Shooting............. Goatneck
  15. Hey B40 We use a coated Gas Check bullet sized .310 @ 170gr. We use these in our bolt guns the 1903 & 1903A3's and our M1 Grands We push them @ 1550 FPS & 1850 FPS in the Grands. These bullets are tack drivers. His name is Norm Percel in Roswell, NM. Do not have his number in front of me....I will get Dusty to post it here. He also sells 7MM & 8MM bullets. Goatneck
  16. Travis is correct Brownells tool is about the best you can buy. That's what I use.
  17. Pistol target distances at EOT 2018 were 7 to about 8 yards. We had over 110 knockdown targets for the Wild Bunch Championship at EOT.
  18. Hey all you BAMM Shooters. The BAMM Match will be held on Side Match Day of Wild Bunch at Winter Range. We will shoot a 10 round Match starting with 5 in the gun bolt open and load as needed. If you do not have a BAMM Rifle don't worry we will have rifles to use with ammo. Goatneck
  19. GS If the 1911 magazines are of good quality the lips will remain in place after they have been reformed. What usually happens is after extensive use they get bent from been stepped on or jamming them into the frame. I have even seen them bent from improper loading. The tools I use will correct the problem of to wide of the lips. Another issue can be the body of the mag can get bent slightly which will cause problems. Capt Sam and I use Tripp Mags
  20. GS This situation as you described can happen. The disconnector in the 1911 is desgined for a certain overall length. As a 1911 is shot thousands of times parts do tend to wear. 1911 magazines also have to be fitted correctly for proper function. If the disconnector overall length is shortened by wear its possible for a discharge, as the magazine is pushed hard in the frame the top round is topped out and the slide release has additional wear and it allows the slide release to slip off the slide and go in battery prematurely preventing the disconnector from holding the sear firmly in the hammer notch the round would discharge. When I do a custom action on a 1911 The hammer hooks the sear and the disconnector are all measured for correctness and then hand fitted. I also reshape the magazine lips for proper fit with a magazine tool.
  21. Let me explain your issue. Winchester designed the mod 12 carrier to lift the shell from the magazine to the chamber and then the bolt would drive the shell into the chamber. In some instances the shell could hang up slightly before being chambered. They designed a solution to correct the problem. Winchester added a Flag to the carrier which did solve the problem. Now the issue is some Model 12 have a Flag and some do not. Even the late model 12's a large number were produced without a flag. The solution to the problem would be find a carrier with the flag and install the part. They are very hard to source and expensive and you need the correct one for your shotgun. There are different types of flags and carriers. The other solution is to have an action Job done by a qualified gunsmith that can correct the problem Goatneck
  22. That's to be expected that is why you factor in a little extra PF
  23. When we used W231 in Precision Bullseye with a 200gr SWC H&G #68 bullet we used 4.0 grs. In Wild Bunch the same 4.0gr of 231 with a 230gr bullet sized to .452 will give you a PF of about 160. That's using my 1911's with Kart national Match Barrels. The same holds true with WST. Using WST you can load 3.8grs to 4.0grs with my guns will give about the same PF of 160. Keep in mind as stated earlier each 1911 will produce different PFs. Check your loads once you settle on a load of your choice.
  24. Boggus Go back and read post 4 & 5 of this thread. You are correct
  25. BB If you are shortening a solid ribbed barrel you can cut it to your desired length with no problem. If it's a vent rib than be Careful where you cut. I would suggest making the cut right in front of one of the post. You can get close to your desired length with this method. Trim it back with a sharp fine tooth file than cold blue your cut.
