  1. The Cutts by Lyman Comps on the model 12 are not legal in WB. I have a 5 gallon bucket full of the compensators I have cut off M12 barrels when I do a custom action job on these shotguns.
  2. Joe, in the first place the competition is "BAMM" Bolt Action Military Match.... not BAM. The rule stands as stated. The Model 48 is legal in this competition!
  3. Could not respond to this issue until today. The SASS Wire would not allow me to enter a post from Nov 15 thru the 20th. It was up running again on the 21st. As stated earlier in this thread Joe Garrison is correct referencing the 24/47 arsenal rebuild. These rifles are legal for BAMM since the inception of BAMM Competition. The model 48 seems to be in the gray area for as its legality. Dusty Boddams covered its history pretty well in his post reply#3 on Nov 17, 2018. The Model 48 is BAMM Legal in all respects. It falls in both sets of criteria in the rules including " Faithful Reproductions". if you examine both guns the 24/47 and the Model 48 there is no advantage or disadvantage in their usage in BAMM Competition. 4. J Frank You are right on the money. You did your home work. I think that is one of the reasons the 3" Duck Gun Model 12 does not function reliably for Wild Bunch competition. And of course it has some additional issues also. I have a Model 12 Pigeon Grade That I use in Wild Bunch Clays. I used it last week at the Sporting Clays Nation Championships and it will only function perfectly with WW Ammo or Remington STS type ammo all other brands of ammo will not function. I have refitted and changed every part new bolt included with no success. The Flag installation by Winchester is still a question mark. Some guns have them and some do not. My research found nothing to tell why this was the case. After working on these guns for many years the trap, skeet and Pigeon Grade ones, 98% of them came from the factory with the Flag. Can't tell you why the others where without the Flag
  5. You are correct in your evaluation. If your Mod 12 is tuned correctly most of the time your issues go away without the Flag. The purpose of the Flag is to prevent the issues you were experiencing. Check your Flag spring to see if it has weakened any if so replace the spring.
  6. Winchester Model 97's & Model 12's only

  8. If it were me making the decision I would select the Remington. Rear sight can be fixed. The pistol grip is BAMM legal. Personally the pistol grip over the long haul is the way to go. From your description it sounds like a good solid rifle. Every one has different ideas. My BAMM Rifles are Remingtons with 2 and 4 grove barrels both with pistol grips which are C stocks. Good luck making your decision. Just remember which ever one you buy go out and have a BAMM good time.
  9. I blow my Tripps out with 160# of air pressure no problems in a number of years Goatneck
  10. Doc Your rifle is legal if it has original battle sights and not sporterized
  11. GS covered it pretty well. We have been shooting BAMM Matches since 2013 at CVV. It has developed into a really competitive and fun competition. I presented this new shooting concept to the Wild Bunch Committee at one of our board meetings. It was approved by the board and Evil Roy and I established the rules and they are posted here in the Wild Bunch Forum. They were then put into the WB Rules Book. We have held BAMM side matches at Winter Range and EOT. We had a large number of shooters at WR this year. EOT this year we will host a BAMM Sniper Match with targets from about 150 to 200 yards. In addition we will be hosting a Dough Boy Side Match. This will be shot with 5 rounds from your BAMM Rifle including your 1911 and shotgun. These side matches will only be held during the WB Championships. Come join in the fun and you will be hooked.
  12. BD We that shoot BAMM with a 30 Cal Rifle in our area use a 170gr gas check bullet sized to .310 running at 1550 fps. This combination has proven to be an extremely accurate load in the 1917's, 1903's and the 1903A3 rifles. Your Enfield No. 4 MK II is legal if it is period correct with the iron Battle Sights and has not been Sporterized
  13. GJ If you switch back and forth from jacketed to Moly or poly coated bullets or vice versa one better clean the barrel real good or group size will be unstable until the bore has been flushed clean. These test were conducted in 2014 and that was the conclusion.
  14. Cody & I came up with this ideal a few years back after one of my friends built his own from an original Winchester 1873. My rifle is the first one Cody built. It has over 10,000 rounds thru the rifle now. It will shoot circles around a 1873 chambered in 45LC. I have several of these. It has never hiccuped one time. It speaks for itself.
  15. We have redefined our Rifle portion of the Wild Bunch Competition at C.V.V Cleburne, Texas.. We have shot 3 matches so far including The Texas State Championship. We have moved the rifle targets out to 25 yards. We have had nothing but praise for the decision. It really adds another element to our game. We vary the round count from 5 to 10 rounds based on the stage. Has any other clubs tried this approach? If you haven't give it a try and see what you think.
  16. 50 Clay Bird Match Top 10 Shooters We had a great turn out for the first stand alone Clays Match. The only really big challenge we faced on Saturday was the 40 to 50 MPH Winds. 17. Back Forty The Sniper Match was shot with the BAMM rifle only from one position. Distance was about 100 yards. There was a convertible car with a driver and a bad guy in the back seat with the 3 out riders following the car. With 5 rounds you shot the driver then the bad guy and his 3 out riders and then with the next 5 rounds you repeated the sequence. The combat match was shot with the BAMM rifle only and 15 rounds shot on 5 targets at about 80 yards in 3 different positions shooters choice on position. We had over 65% of the Wild Bunch Shooters shoot BAMM. Goatneck

  24. Back 40 Glade you found a BAMM Rifle in 03A3. Dusty is right on for the loading information. I shoot the same load as he does with the same bullet. I have 2 03A3 rifles. With that load I am running 1550 PFS. both of my rifles shoot 1 MOA at 100 yds. I shoot my rifles out to 430 yds and they are dead nuts on. The only difference in my loads as Dusty's, I use a Federal Gold Medal Large Rifle Primer. Hope youall can join us at The Texas Wild Bunch State Championship in Nov. We will be hosting 2 BAMM Matches also. Come join us for a fun weekend. Goatneck
