  1. HI Gang; In another post I was using a nylon piece under the recoil spring where it hits.
  2. HI gang; I am using a 19 pound main hammer spring, and a progressive wound wolf 13 pound recoil spring with a shock buff. Power factor of 158 with 200 grain RNFP bullets. Standing by for the fall out for using a shock buff. :)
  3. HI Gang; I have found the big chamber in Marlin 45 colt hard to seal up and stop the powder from blowing back over the bolt and into my eyes with 200 grain bullets. This was fixed by 250 grain bullets.
  4. HI Gang: I use a 200 grain RNFP made for 45 colt. But as GJ pointed out I make sure they are deep seated so the shoulder will not hit the rifleing and not fully chamber. They cycle fine in my 1911 pistols.
  5. I thought that the Winchester SPM primers felt better, but figured it was a head thing. WOW I aint losing it.
  6. HI Gang; I have done all the right thing to reload bullets and sometimes it is good and sometimes it is not. I have a brass curly pot scrubber that I cut off some and wrap it around a bore brush to remove the lead. I reuse the ones that work and avoid the others unless the price is to good. Life and shooting is to short to stress too much, "when its time to shoot, just shoot "
  7. YEP! Had many of the same issues at the start. But, Lee bulge buster, change the bullet to the 200 RNFP cowboy. All is good now and works well for IPSC too. :) GJ the man. 8)
  8. IT is what ever it is used for, like a nice folding knife sheath. If it is stuffed with something then it cannot fit anything else.
  9. HI Gang; So the holster is a Realist |International 1145. I was reluctant to dip it due to the finish, but for the 5 bucks I paid what the heck. So now it is a lot better. Got some old mag holders that are a bit loose, where did I leave that bucket of water!
  10. Hi Gang; So I bought a older all smooth leather inside and out holster. The 1911 go's in with a bit of a push but it is sticky and tight to pull out. There was a coating or something to make old leather more slippery? What have you heard or use?
  11. HI Gang; Curious as to bullet weight in pistol average and velocity.
  12. HI Gang; We are not using a gun that needs to be manually cocked to fire. So we have to have a higher level of awareness of our auctions.
  13. HI Gang; G.J. there is a gun show this Sunday so I will be looking for 185 RNHB copper washed for a test run before ordering from a local on line shipper. There already is a wolf spring order at customs that includes a 12 pound recoil spring as well as various others. I currently run a 19 pound main spring in the 1911s. Nice to know that 185, at 700ish has been a target load. The wife has a colt gold cup, this could be good for her. Following the cowboy light bullet for less recoil idea. Thank You all for the help. Merry Christmas to all, This place is a pleasure to visit.
  14. HI Gang; So how slow can you let a lead bullet (230 round nose in 45 acp) go before you run the danger of sticking a bullet in the barrel? What about a copper washed bullet, is there a difference? I am looking to getting less recoil to compete with 9 MM using my 45 acp, I just need to be over 125 power factor.
  15. HI Gang; lead bullets -- cheap --must be right for me.
  16. HI Frenchy; The CFO need to approve the type of shooting on a range in Ontario. As to non WB guns, they play in there own category. You have to do what works in your back yard.
  17. HI Gang; Just got my "Black Badge" with my S +W Doug K. custom. Not a miss step in the gun.
  18. Hi Gang; I like small primer 45 acp. Brass is cheaper, you do not care if you lose them, people will go out of there way to give them to you.
  19. Hi gang; Went out chorny ing yesterday. 45 acp, mixed range brass, 200 RNFP lead, Federal 150 primers, COL 1.161, and tightgroup just under start load.783 fps, adverage deviation of 10. Most deviation was 5 or less. Found similar results with 38 spl and 45 colt loads. Most other powders I had used were 30 to 50 off the adverages. Firearm was Para expert 5 inch. Referance Lyman 452460 bullet for details.
  20. HI Gang; IF a club did wish to have a WB group but only small numbers maybe the WB could or should form there own posse, so as not to detract or offend the cowboys and mainly for safety reasons. As to the vemon well it aint what it used to be for type of stages or kindness of people. I now lock my car at matchs. 25 years back I never thought about it.
  21. HI Gang. How about CAS on saturday and move the fireing line back 10 yards and shooot WB on sunday. ;D
  22. WE should go 6 in a mag, 5 in a shotgun and 9 in a rifle, just to be different.
  23. HI Gang; My gunsmith says to sling shot it. He saw a Ka-boom during racking years ago, just ask three finger Jim why.
  24. AND a full automatic machine gun belt fed.
  25. HI Gang; I use a 13 pound progress recoil spring with a shock buff to protect the frame. so far so good, like the man said as he fell off the 20 story building. I will let you know if there is a crash. Load about 160 PF.
