  1. Since the carrier with the flag did not work well, I sent it back. Perhaps I need to have it tuned better for my use. Goatneck, I could send you a PM; is your email still fbursey@sbcglobal.net?
  2. I have purchased them from Dawson precision.
  3. There are times when I cycle the shotgun that a loaded shell seems to get caught in the action. If I can feel it happen, canting the shotgun left allows the shell to be chambered. Cycling slowly helps, I think. I also feel like it may happen with the first or second round, if six were loaded, or the first, if five were loaded. Using four seems not to be associated with the issue. I do not have the guide/flag model. I did get a carrier with the guide from Numric (sp?) but it seemed not to work properly, the guide did not always raise. Suggestions?
  4. My post may have been misunderstood. I am in agreement with keeping the 1911 uncharged until used, for the safety reasons outlined. My point was that since it must be charged before use, IN SASS WILD BUNCH, we all start with the same condition, that is, having to rack the pistol before use. Why is that a problem? I do not think that SASS Wild Bunch needs to be USPSA with the firearms that we use. To me, it seems that some would like it to be, though
  5. Our current condition may be safer, generally. Current debate noted. But we all start the same, having to rack the 1911 before use, so what difference does it make?
  6. We had a GREAT State Wild Bunch Match this weekend! Cool, but NO SNOW! Back 40 did a great job organizing the match and a tremendous banquet Saturday evening. Sgt. Eli crafted ten fine Wild Bunch stages which were challenging but Fair. Even had a BAM Match. Congratulations to the State Champs, Lady Viper and ShellStuffer.
  7. It won't be long, will it? Looks like a fun-filled week-end awaits us at Sparta!
  8. This was an OUTSTANDING class presented by ShellStuffer and Back 40! We had good discussions. I wonder if the bayonet for the '97 should be allowed; perhaps that will be considered. Would not seem to add any advantage to using the '97. In any case, I am glad I took the course to enhance my understanding of the current rules and regulations.
  9. So noted. Will advise all who need to know. Thanks.
  10. Is there a difference in penalties when a shooter breaks the 170 with a loaded firearm, a chambered round firearm, or an empty, action opened firearm?
  11. I am in favor of total time. It is direct, simple, and no "fudge factors."
  12. Well, it seems the SASS Wire found another topic to replace the "Rank vs. Total Time" controversy. namely the number of rounds in the 1911 mag. Now many other reasons not to shoot WB are being expressed. I was surprised with some of the reasons and some of the attitudes voiced against those of us wanting to shoot WB. However, some of the Leadership of WB in the past have seemed rather "rigid" in their views. I hope that not many rules are changed in order to chase the unicorn of participation. Having the matches available and our having fun should draw in those who want to join us.
  13. I agree, that a weight limit is just that. Weigh the bullets if necessary. It came up because one supplier is going to stop providing 185 grain bullets (for .45 acp). So, the choice is to use a 180 gr. or a 200 gr. bullet. Regardless whether the bullet is lubed or coated, I have found a range from 183-188 grain in the "185 grain" bullets that I have bought from a supplier. Yes, I weighed each bullet in a couple of boxes. Certainly, with the 180 gr. bullets, this might be an issue.
  14. I "heard" that if one were to use a 180 grain bullet, the minimum allowed, as was marked from the manufacturer, but when checked, the bullet weighed less than 180 gr. the ammo would still pass muster when checked for Power factor. Let's say that the Power factor itself is adequate for the ammo in question. Acceptable or unacceptable? Thanks.
  15. Thanks for the info. I will start working on the load.
  16. What would be a good choice, and source of cast bullets to load for my Swedish Mauser? I am not interested in casting my own bullets. Are heavier bullets better (140 gr vs 160 gr.)? thanks
  17. On another forum I posed the question whether the Shok Buff system, or even just the shok Buff buffer pad, by Wilson, was legal for Wild Bunch. Advised that I post it here, in the Rules Board. There was the thought that it would be legal in Modern Category, not Traditional. However, I thought that ANY recoil reducing system was not allowed in either category. Comments? Ruling?
  18. I posted thread here, since it referenced another post on this area. However, I'll post it on the rules forum. I agree that recoil is perceived differently, one person or another.
  19. I noticed in another thread that the Shok Buff was mentioned. I presume that this is just the Shok Buff insert, and not the Shok Buff system. Are these prohibited, since they are recoil management devices?
  20. Thanks for the information and advice.
  21. Thanks for the information.
  22. What bullet and powder are preferred for BAM matches?
  23. I wanted to be certain of the rules regarding the holster prior to getting another. I believe the rule states that the leather must go to the MUZZLE END of the ejection port. Is this just on the right side of the pistol or also on the top of the slide as well? How much of the top of the slide has to be covered by the holster? Are there limits as to how much the holster can be canted or how much it projects from the body/hip? Thanks.
