I saw a previous post of yours, and you used Unique. Use a 405 grain bullet in any loads?

I may have noticed that one can use a 1895 Marlin in .45-70 for the Teddy Roosevelt side match. Is that true? If so, might go that route rather than a '94 in .30-30.
  4. Thanks for the info. Yes, I presumed the '94 would require a rifle cartridge, not a pistol cartridge.
  5. What rifles are used for the Teddy Roosevelt side match? Are Winchester '94's used?
  6. Well, I predicted this. HA! Probably will generate a lot of images for the Chronicle! When they see how sharp the shooting costumes are, everyone will want to shoot Wild Bunch!
  7. Through the years, there has been changes to WB and the rules, even the firearms. Reasons for shooting WB, or not shooting WB have been noted. Some might even question the necessity, legitimacy of Wild Bunch as it stands. However, perhaps one BIG change might change all of this. Add multiple COSTUME CATEGORIES! We certainly need to have vigorous Costuming requirement as part of our discipline to gain status, participation, and recognition. You may doubt that, but in look at the matches. Many costuming awards and increased participation. Costuming competition/recognition even was heavily displayed in the last Chronicle; more was written about it and the award winners than either WB or Cowboy itself, it seemed. CF=Costuming Factor, could be added. Perhaps we could dress up more and shoot less per match (also saving primers!). We'll see if this gets traction (with non-lugged sole boots, of course).
  8. We had a Great Wild Bunch Match Sunday. Shell Stuffer was First overall and First Men's Modern. Mean Mary, for the second year in a row, was First Lady Overall, and First Lady's Modern. Other category winners include: Stomper,"Junior Boy;" Don Jorge, Senior Modern; Buffalo Dick, Senior Traditional; and Blastin Brad, Men's Traditional. State Champions include Stomper, Mean Mary, Shell Stuffer, Don Jorge, Comstock Charlie (Senior Traditional). Top Ten: Shell Stuffer, Billy the Avenger, Don Jorge, Jean Duke, Coop Dog, Burn Through, Blastin Brad, Hairless, Mackinaw Jack, and Buffalo Dick. Full results are on the Long Nine Cowboys Facebook page. Some called the match/stages challenging. It was Hot and Humid. We had firearm malfunctions. We had misses. And WE HAD FUN; IT'S WILD BUNCH! After the match, we had ice cream during the Award Ceremony. It was Great to shoot with such a great group, who not only worked hard during the match, but helped with the tear-down after the match.
  9. Don't forget the Illinois State WB match, August 22. Round count is: .45 acp 217 rounds, rifle 43 rounds, shotgun 45 rounds.

  13. Is it permitted to have the front sight of a Military rifle painted, plated, or otherwise altered for the BAMM or the other side matches?
  14. Thanks for the information. See you at Land Run!
  15. Is there any information about the WB match at Land Run? Number of stages and round count would be of interest. Thanks
  16. Thanks for the info For the PF ~165, I have been using a 15 lb recoil spring and a 17 lb hammer/main spring Does that sound about right? Seems to function well. Planning on replacing the recoil spring, Main spring, sear spring and magazine catch spring, as recommended. Wolff springs used in the past. How often do you replace the firing pin or extractor?
  17. How often are the "main springs" and recoil springs replaced typically? Let's say before obvious cycling issues, of course. Wolf vs IMSI springs? Thanks
  18. Thanks for the advice and insights.
  19. Thanks for the info. I thought the dual spring might not be allowed. Boggus, thanks for the info on the spring. Would you say that the pistol itself is a reasonable quality 1911? Thanks.
  20. Does anyone have experience with the Colt Competition 1911 .45? Does the dual recoil spring system keep it from being used in Wild Bunch?
  21. This match will be held on October 18. Eight stages, one day event. More info is in the Wild Bunch Match portion of the Forum.

    Hats

As far as military, campaign hats go, what colors are acceptable? Olive, of course, but what about brown or black? Thanks.
  24. Happy Jack and Legendary Lawman, Thanks for the info on the kneeling roll. I just wanted to make sure I was not the only one without one.
