Just the area of the front sight/band. I could not find anything about such a cut, that was done by an Armory. Must have been a civilian blemish. One fellow thought it sounded like a key cut, but for what?

I saw an interesting K-J carbine, 1899, at the local gunship. Nice patina, smooth action. Did not look at the bore, as I was pressed for time. However, on the left side of the barrel, between the muzzle and the sight level, there was a definite machine mark, with distinct edges. at the deepest, it may have been a mm or so. Any information on what to look for, or look out for with such a carbine, and what do you think of the cut out on the barrel? I know, an image would help.

And, I forgot to mention that GOOD magazines are a necessity! Spend extra on them.

Agree with GJ. I have used STI, Colt, Ruger, and Rock Island 1911's with success, and I see many others using 1911's costing less than $1200. It is your money, and it is nice to have a nice 1911, but you might be overspending for Wild Bunch. Just as important may be producing good quality ammunition that always functions in the 1911.

Cross draw and shoulder holsters are not allowed for competition, per the HANDBOOK.

The Mag release button may be "extended," or longer, but cannot be oversized, or have a bigger radius, as mentioned above.

Perhaps I was unclear with my premise. In essence, the idea is to LOWER the current "Classic" rifle power factor from 150 to about 75-80, which is what I suspect the current .38's are. The 1911 power factor would stay at 150 (minimum).

OMG, I doubt that the PF for all rifles would ever return to 150. It is too unpopular. Tracker Jack, the 150 is POWER FACTOR. The 750-800 was meant to be FEET PER SECOMD. I did misuse the term, so I'll correct imy premise statement Old metal targets may be a problem with a high power factor. With our AR 500, we have found no damage, but not all clubs have such targets.

I would suspect that most competitors using a .38 rifle, Cowboy or Wild Bunch, are using a velocity of 750-800, at least. This is based on a revolver power factor of 60, and the using the same rounds, the rifle adds 100-150fps, easily. So the POWERR FACTOR may be in the 75-80 range already. Using a >.40 rifle, with a PF of 150 is a disadvantage, many would agree, as it is easily twice the power factor of the .38's. I might propose changing the Power Factor for the rifle in Wild Bunch to 80, or any value <100, for any caliber rifle, in any class. This would lessen the advantage of using a .38, and it may allow someone shooting in a "Classic" category to compete with those in an "Open" category. The 1911 Power Factor would still be 150. Discussion? Kevlar is on.

None of this is new. Implementation is not encouraged, it seems, currently.

At any of the recent "bigger shoots," especially Land Run or End of Trail, were ammo samples tested for Power Factor? Just curious.

SDQ He loaded more than 2 shotgun rounds, that the stage called for. Firearm Cleared-no live or empty case in or on the chamber, magazine, or carrier. Glossary range operations-Shotgun will be CLEARED and discarded, etc, and Shotgun is safe to leave the shooter's hands EMPTY. Page 19 The shooter was not going to use the shotgun later, so it was not being re-staged for further use. So, I would say Stage DQ, perhaps two, which would be MDQ.

Looks like an idea long overdue. Since it is not specifically allowed, let's get an official ruling and see if it can be legal.

Perhaps I'll post on the Cowboy wire too, but there was a big discussion abut shadow shooting as you may have seen Dry firing is not permitted already. I would propose that any Shadow Shooting with loaded firearms would be considered unsafe gun handling, and would be penalized. I would propose that Shadow shooting at the loading table with an unloaded firearm would not be allowed, as there is really not room for such activities. Inspection of the firearms, loaded or unloaded would be allowed, of course. I would further propose that shadow shooting prior to the start of a stage, after the firearms have been staged, other than a brief walk through by the shooter, would not be allowed, and repeated episodes might be considered Spirit of the Game, since it delays all of the shooters behind, and even the upcoming posses especially in a big match, where time is critical. What duo you think of these ideas?

It may depend on how much weight it adds to the overall 1911. Looks like it might be acceptable for Modern.
