  1. J Frank Norfleet, it looks like those numbers exclude the ladies categories, any particular reason why? WOW look at the Traditional category count for DoT! That's crazy. I think your approach is down the right road, but I would argue your outlook. Considering the pressure about growing the sport and overall membership, I would look at this as Wild Bunch is the only division of the two that brings in people under 65, and not just aging everyone out. WB has about 42% of its shooters under 65 at EoT while you are looking at under 20% on the Cowboy side. WB is the best chance SASS has for membership. I will also say, EoT's WB is probably my favorite match. I like that they push the targets out some from the cowboy side, but I always explain to people as the targets are just big enough to miss. People always get cocky about the targets there, and push too hard. To build on that, there is variety in the stages, a couple of harder, couple easier and most in the middle. I like that EoT makes you have to adjust the throttle, as opposed to a match that just keeps it at one level. I don't think anyone here will argue with the fact that WB's treatment and labeling as a sidematch has been a hinderance to it's growth. I have always teased the idea of having a 3 stage CAS match at my Wild Bunch matches, just as a turn the tables maneuver. I like the lower cost of entry to get into WB, and it's easier to bring in new members. Especially with Doughboy and Teddy Roosevelt removing the $1800 rifle requirement.
  2. Well the door prizes are rolling in big time! We have two mernickle rigs to give away, bullets for days from Bear Creek and Quality Cast, Gift Certificates for all your favorites like Bullets by Scarlett and Starline Brass and much more!
  3. This is definitely on the calendar. Folks if you've never shot Dusty Boddams' sidematches; well you just haven't seen how much fun a sidematch can be.
  4. Who needs one of these!
  5. Have your applications post marked by Aug 28th to make sure we have your shirt size in time.
  6. Interesting that you got more consistent results with the Moly Coated. I assume all the same primer for Colt as they aren't listed? I only tried Hi-Tek 200 Gr bullets as that's all that I load in 45 Colt, typically Scarlett's or Missouri Bullets CB #4. I settled on a Red Dot load that had a spread of less than 40 FPS. At Following are my results from Clean shot: 5.0 Gr 495, 590, 544, 569, 604, 613 FPS ES: 118 6.1 Gr 778, 703, 759, 810, 702 FPS ES: 108 6.5 Gr 769, 942, 901, 841, 823 FPS ES: 173 The load I use for Cowboy velocity of 4.3 Gr has a ES of 34, and 36 in C45S.
  7. CN Double, after the Illinois state match, it looks like we will have an interesting challenge for modern PCC as well. Bring it along.

  9. I recently switched 45 colt from TB to red dot. Using bullseye for 45 ACP with Clean Shot as a back up. Would not recommend even trying Clean Shot for the 45 Colt at WB PF. It does not like the extra case volume and changes its mind with every shot how it's going to react to it. Smaller cases, it works well.
  10. Planning on being in KS this weekend as well.
  11. I posted a link to it on the WB Facebook group, but here is the link from Cooncan: https://powdercreekcowboys.com/2023-mayhem-at-monticello/
  12. Pershing's Pursuit, or the Wild Bunch match you won't want to miss! Applications are out, and join the Bear Creek Volunteers September 15-17 in Branson MO. If you have ever thought, " I wish I could shoot Doughboy or Teddy Roosevelt as a main match category," Well now is your chance. We are offering those categories to be shot in tandem with the regular categories like Modern and Traditional. We'll even have a few new sidematches, so bring all those extra guns! Hotel and other info to follow at https://bearcreekvolunteers.com/PershingsPursuit.html Pershings_Pursuit_App_2023.pdf
  13. Sarsaparilla and I will be there!
  14. Looking forward to it!
  15. Haven't found anything to beat shoe goo.
  16. Marshall Stone, as a Traditional shooter I very much like the sentiment. However I also don't know that I feel that the ROC has made decisions that hampers Traditional shooters or avoided things that might give them more of a competitive advantage. I know there have been a couple of questions I raised from the Traditional perspective, that might not have been forseen, but again never held back because of rules against my category. Opening the possible can of worms, is there something you would really see that would be changed or should be addressed with more "Traditional" representation? We are seeing an interesting uptick in Traditional shooters, I believe ~40% of the shooters at Land Run/Nationals were Traditional shooters.
  17. This is a great match, with some of the best food you'll have at any shoot or otherwise.
  18. Match must really be growing if they are expanding to the top 16 men and women!
  19. Looking forward to it
  20. Hattrick and Memphis Dundee! I guess those Oklahoma boys at least got safety figured out!
  21. Ed Brown feed lips keep opening up on me and prevent a nice fall out. Using Colt Mags now and they have been great.
  22. We are just two weeks away so get those applications in this weekend! Don't forget the fastest clean shooter takes home the custom engraved '97 PershingsPursuitWhosComing 8-24-22.pdf
