  1. If you've read the handbook you'd know .38 rifles are legal in Wild Bunch, as are SxS shotguns. If/When the new Classic Division goes into effect, that division will revert back to the old wild bunch of .40 caliber or larger rifles. As for being "slicked up" only as much as you want them to be. The 1911 should be the best you can afford as it's the primary for WB, think a 10 stage match with 300 rounds of pistol being norm, as opposed to 70 rifle and 60 shotgun.
  2. Because the WB TG's are the ones who decide what rule changes/clarifications are to be introduced. SASS has asked that the TG's take ownership of the "survey" and, after receiving input from the shooters, submit changes and clarifications to SASS HQ for adoption. Nothing nefarious going on, just making sure the TG's, some are new, understand their duties and who does what.
  3. From the WB ROC, This will be in the updated SHB when it comes out. "1887/1901 loading procedure verbiage shall read β€œat the loading table, load as many rounds as 87/01 will hold, up to 6 in magazine and carrier. Close action on empty chamber, hammer must fall unimpeded.”
  4. JJ, I've handed out Clean Match pins at 7 of our last 8 matches. Sunday will be number 9. No, I haven't gotten one, but the folks who did were ecstatic. First, to clean, second to get a, hand designed, hand made, pin. Last year, at Bordertown, there were 11 clean shooters in WB. It can happen. Well, not to me but, it can. πŸ˜„
  5.       YES / NO   5. Increase age-based categories: Open or Classic age category, up to 60 years; then Senior from 60 to 70 years; and Super Senior 70+?       YES / NO   6. Should shotgun misses be allowed to made up?        YES / NO   7. Enable "rifle to be last" in WB stage design?              YES / NO And here's the survey from the first post on this page. RGR Wild Bunch Survey 2025 1. Should current WB categories stay with 40 Cal and above rifles and 1897 or Model 12 Shotguns. (Traditional)? Yes No 2. For traditional categories, should the 150 Power Factor for rifles be re-instated? Yes No 3. Should an open category be developed for those who do not wish to shoot in the traditional categories? These would include all SASS sanctioned firearms plus others to be agreed. Power Factors to be agreed upon. Yes No 4. With the introduction of an open category should we delete overall winners and just have category winners? Yes No 5. Should we increase age based categories as follows: Original up to 60 years, Senior from 60 to 70 years, Super Senior 70+? Yes No 6. Should Shotgun misses be allowed to be made up? Yes No Comments / Suggestions. Again, there are NO rules against Rifle Last, nor any suggestions that the Rifle be not last, in the WBSHB, WBRO Module. Don't know where the idea came from, regarding rifle not last, but it's not codified anywhere, nor has it been since the inception of WB.
  6. As the current WB rules do not prohibit, nor discourage, rifle being last, this is a moot question. And, as this question was not part of the original survey, it was not used.
  7. Jim Ran this survey past the two clubs I shoot at. 1. 10Y 1N 2. 9Y 2N 3. 8Y 3N 4. 9Y 2N 5. 10Y 1N 6. 8Y 3N Hope this helps

  9. He posted it on the CAS TG Wire
  10. Nothing if you shoot H3G.
  11. Still would like to know who's writing the stages and who's vetting them. Don't want a repeat of the debacle of last EOT.
  12. It doesn't matter. The only requirements are the rifle
  13. SHB Pg 38 Action Cycled (lever and pump action long guns) – Opening the action far enough to cock the hammer. The only penalty is for Not Cycling the Action. Don't like it? Contact your TG.
  14. Glad you got your suit on, See reference above. If you don't like the rule, take it up with your TG to have it brought up at the next vote. Until then, SxS must be empty. Pump and Lever guns must have actions cycled, per the glossary of terms.
  15. SHB Pg 22 "There is no penalty for an empty case/hull in a gun that is open or that the shooter has cycled. If a proper attempt has been made to cycle the gun, it will be cocked." SHB Pg 38 "Action Cycled (lever and pump action long guns) – Opening the action far enough to cock the hammer."
  16. The answer was given, multiple times. Any type of round, except live, left in any, cycleable, firearm is a no call if the action has been cycled. SxS cannot "cycle the action" therefore, any round left in the SxS is, either a MSV or SDQ. Again, not for the round but for NOT cycling the action.
  17. Again, the penalty is NOT for leaving empties in the discarded gun, it's for NOT CYCLING THE ACTION. SHB Pg, 28 You need to get your head away from what's in the discarded gun, and look to, has the action been cycled. As there is no action to cycle in a SxS, it must be emptied. All long guns, lever, pump or sxs, with a live round in the chamber is a SDQ penalty.
  18. That's because there is no penalty for leaving a round on the carrier or in the magazine, the penalty is for not cycling the action. SHB Pg 28: - "Not cycling the action of a long gun at the end of the shooting string before the next firearm is fired" The only penalty for a round left is for a Live Round in the Chamber. As the definition of "Action Cycled" is spelled out in the SHB Glossary, pg 38, as "Action Cycled (lever and pump action long guns) – Opening the action far enough to cock the hammer." It shows the SxS does not fall under this, therefore, the chambers must be empty.
  19. The reason that part of the rule is there, and will be there, is to ensure the sxs shooters attempt to cycle instead of just open, drop, and run.
  20. Shooter choice is up to the shooter and the TO. The counters watch/listen for misses, and assist in watching for procedural errors. The TO is the one who determines if, or not, the shooters "choice" is in line with the scenario and rules. As the TO is the person closest to the shooter, and should be looking at the gun, is in the best position to tell whether the "choice" is legal or not. The minute spotters take their eyes off the targets, they loose the focus they should have regarding misses and potential procedural errors.
  21. There are no rules, that I know of, that involve watching "target engagement" only watching for proper strikes/misses. The only person who should, remotely, be watching the gun is the TO. Spotters should be watching the targets. And other than TO's and Spotters, no one has a say in P's or Misses.
  22. SHB Pg 19, top of page. Handling Conventions - Shotguns - In Wild Bunch Action Shooting, side by side/double barrel shotguns are loaded under TO supervision at the staging location and staged open. The action may not close until β€œafter the beep.” Any additional rounds needed must be loaded from the body or other specified staging position. If vertical staging is used, the double/side by side will have to be staged empty. It's allowed at the Start of the Stage, not any other time during the stage.
  23. Click on the flyer link in the first post. Only thing not there is the round count. As for round count, I always estimate 30 rounds, pistol, per stage. Some higher, some lower, but that's a good number. Rifle I figure 10. Shotgun 6. If I bring ammo back, that's ok.
  24. I use WST. I know a lot of shooters use VV but I don't know which, and, that decision should be up to the shooter.
