  1. Shooter did get a restart. But after every body stopped laughing I told him we should consider those three or four rounds that were cycled as rounds downrange. He took it in the manner it was intended. He's a good sport but he did take a little ribbin about that. kR
  2. A big thanks to Nellie Blue and Dusty. I have shot with both of them and hope to again in the future. kR
  3. ??? Looks to me like the mag would extend beyond the magwell if it did not have the leather on it. kR
  4. Nice, J Frank Thank you kR
  5. She should not pull the slide. The hand and arm that holds the slide should be held immobile against her side and then push the frame of the gun with her other hand this is much easier to do. kR PS check J Franks post and do it like that.
  6. Pcc- shoot knockdowns until down, misses on static targets are scored as misses. kR
  7. Light enough to fire when you want to without excess force and heavy enough to require a conscious effort to fire it. Different for differnt people. kR
  8. Any pics available? kR
  9. Find one round that sticks. Coat it with black magic marker. Drop it into the bbl. Take it back out, the scrape marks will identify where it is sticking. kR
  10. Really nice. That BBQ gun would look even better with a pair of Buffalo horn grips on it. Where do you get the mags with the lanyard rings? kR
  11. Could be u could borrow a SG from a pard in AZ. kR
  12. If you shoot the wrong type of target such as a rifle or shotgun target with the pistol it is a miss. If you you shoot ten of them it would be ten misses, no p's involved. kR
  13. The 1911 runs a balancing act between it's recoil and main springs. Springs that are not balanced can lead to poor functioning of the gun. The factory springs are 16# recoil and 23# main springs. This matches factory and mil-spec ammo that makes about 190 Power Factor. A 15# recoil runs well with about a 19# main spring. (This is what I run in WB guns.) I would guess a 14# recoil spring would like a 17# main spring. But I have never had to go so light to get a Wild Bunch 1911 to function well (running about 160 Power Factor). Too light a recoil and main spring will toss empties more than 12 feet from the gun. And sometimes bang up the mouth of the fired cases. Too heavy a recoil and main spring set and the 1911 will just dribble cases out of the gun - 4 feet or less from where you stand. Or even worse, have a few failures to eject the fired case. Between those distances of ejected cases - the springs match the power factor of the ammo well, and the gun should both function reliably and not suffer battering of the frame or slide. Joe is correct on that ejection distance. The techs at Ruger say a spent round should land between 3' and 9' from the shooter, they may roll or bounce farther away but 3' to 9' is how far they should land from the shooter. kR
  14. My mod 12 will not chamber most aa's even when they will fit in the shell checker. kR
  15. Try some Remington STS's. My mod 12 will not chamber AA's. kR PS Dead Head is in New England
  16. My wife prefers Clays 3.7g I believe and a 230g bullet. kR
  17. In the past we have used factory ammo for the Mosins. kR
  18. I would think safety would be the reason NOT to carry a rifle or pistol round in the shot shell loop as it could be inserted into a shotgun. It would be very hard to insert a shotgun shell into your rifle or pistol. kR
  19. According to that rule a shotshell may be carried in a mag pouch. It only says you cannot carrie rifle or pistol ammo in a shotshell loop. kR
  20. At or about the minimum load should give the pf very easily. Load recommendations for 700x are not very low. Minimum load on the Hodgden website is 5.0 gs=822 pfs. That should be a pf of 164.
  21. Acsa shoots tomorrow. At Avery. kR
  22. Thanks GJ. That ought to get me some good results. Maybe we will be able to shoot BAMM at WR. I shoot the Mosin every week at the range here but ammo is getting a little harder to find. I keep most of the copper out of the bore on the Mosin. I find it a little easier if I do copper removal every couple of weeks. KR
  23. Thanks Dusty. I was hoping to get more than load but it sounds like a good place to start. Kid Rich
