  1. Since they dropped the word steel and dropped the minimum weight requirement it seems that the lightweight 1911 is allowed. Blackfoot
  2. They are made for selling and are will known for causing problems. Blackfoot
  3. Does the safety work if you leave the shim out ? (don't forget to also remove the parts that are in the slide) Blackfoot
  4. Will it go to slide lock if you manually operate the slide to empty the magazine? Your conversion may not provide that feature. Blackfoot
  5. Some folks think of a model 12 as a gussied-up or improved 97. Forget it! A model 12 is a totally different design, done by a different firearm designer. Blackfoot
  6. That is a really nice and valuable moded 12. I would NOT use it for Wild Bunch competition. Blackfoot
  7. Not a common term in my neck of the woods. Blackfoot
  8. Six works fine, I usually have 6 on the belt and 1 loose for first loading. Blackfoot
  9. That looks like a barrel band with sling swivel and attaching point for the rail. Will this open the gate to allow cobbled up Model 12's?? Blackfoot
  10. We developed a Wild Bunch DB category in our regular WB matches over a year ago. Our range has distant targets available so really all we had to do was brimg BAM rifles and designate the DB targets at each stage. The targets are various shapes, mostly smallish cowboy targets set at 35 to 100+ yards. Starting with the rifle staged open and empty with ammo in stripper clips. Usually only 5 rounds of BAM at each stage. Shooting is offhand, unsupported. It is a HOOT! Blackfoot
  11. External modifications that are not specifically addressed are not allowed. Blackfoot
  12. Start by going to a local club match and visiting. You will learn a lot and develop some instant friends! Blackfoot 8)
  13. Just caught myself thinking. What trigger pull weight do you like on your Wild Bunch pistol? Blackfoot :-*
  14. I havent had good luck with other Triple K magazines, the ones that I have tried ended up in the trash. I would not buy more than one at a time if they are the only ones available. YMMV, Blackfoot
  15. I use that same bullet seated to 1.185" OAL and have no problems. Blackfoot
  16. Hey Dee, Are you having a grip problem or just experimenting? I recommend using just one hand! Blackfoot :D
  17. I have never heard anyone say that they don't shoot Wild Bunch because of the scoring system. Granted, it might be a point of contention with seasoned WB shooters and Total Time might be favored by a lot of us but I just don't think it will attract new shooters. I will shoot Wild Bunch no matter how it is scored. Blackfoot :) :)
  18. I want all of my competition to use them! Blackfoot 8)
  19. My experience has been that the Featherweight moded 12 only holds 5 rounds in the magazine, not 6 like the standard model. You might want to check that. Blackfoot
  20. Hey Dee, Don't overthink the issue of lube for Winter Range. Most any common gun lube should work just fine. The only time that I have known of a real problem was when Nonstop dropped a pistol during the cowboy match. He had to feel around in a mud puddle to find it. Actually the lube on it wasn't a problem at all. That being said, I like Rem Oil and also Ballistol. Blackfoot 8)
  21. Hey Dee, Glad you are making it! It is usually a really great time. Don't forget that your ammo is subject to PF check and your pistol will be weighed. The first time I shot Wild Bunch at WR they checked every shooter's ammo for power factor. Mine made 150.7, too close. Get ready for lots of shooting and lots of fun. See ya at Oakwood, Blackfoot
  22. Quick cleaning 1911: I remove the slide, take out the bushing, barrel, spring and quide then clean everything that I can see. Apply lube as needed, reassemble and go shoot. Your mileage may vary. Blackfoot
  23. Dee, I have 12's from 18 to 24 inches. If I were to do another I would cut it 22 to 24 inches. I can always cut it again but it is really difficult to put some back on. NO chokes. Blackfoot
  24. I have used them, never found any benefit gained. They will cause a problem when you least expect it. I consider them to be one of the things that are made to sell. Blackfoot
