  1. The Wild Bunch Range Operations Committee have reviewed the stance on trench guns and included it in the 2022 rules. As long as a reproduction is true to the original issue trench guns, it will be allowed, no matter its origin.
  2. SASS has published the 2022 Wild Bunch Manuals. They have been combined into a Shooter’s Handbook, with everything covering the shooter and a Range Operations and Match Director’s Guide for all things to do with the match and the stages. It is our hope that this will make it easier for shooters to find what they are looking for. Suggestions are always welcome. They can be seen and downloaded from the RULES section. On this site there is also a link to a synopsis of the 2022 changes for everyone’s reference. Legendary Lawman WBAS ROC Chair

  4. I am pleased to announce that Frederick Jackson Turner has agreed to become our new Wild Bunch Ambassador for Southern California. FJT needs no introduction to those who reside in the west, but for those who do not know him, he is an avid cowboy and Wild Bunch shooter. He is well known for his great enthusiasm. One of his claims to fame is being the announcer at the top gun shoot off at Winter Range and other major events, where he is known for being both informative and entertaining while interjecting his own brand of humor. We are excited and looking forward to having his support in promoting Wild Bunch. Join me in welcoming him as an Ambassador. We also offer our thanks to Beartrap for being our ambassador and promoting Wild Bunch in California and further afield.
  5. Everyone's input in greatly appreciated. I think that everyone is aware that there are two different issues, that being putting the long gun down after finishing with it, and putting it down re-staged for further use. Wild Bunch simply took the "re-staging for further use" from the cowboy rules and has not reconsidered it since. Obviously, it needs to be reconsidered and will go on the list for review next year. The other point that is made is that Match Directors should not require long guns to be re-staged for further use. Having said that, it has been pointed out that stages, including some at EOT 2021, because they allowed the shooter lots of choices, also allowed the shooter, if they wished, to re-stage their shotgun for further use. While that was not the best way to shoot the stage; as stated above, it is an option that shooters could chose. To that end, the rule on re-staging needs to be reviewed. In the meantime it is hoped that Match Directors and Posse Marshals will make note.
  6. You will find a link to the updated EOT 2022 Wild Bunch schedule on the home page of EOT at www.endoftrail.org, near the bottom of the page. The complete schedule will be updated as soon as we can.
  7. There are now only 17 vacancies for EOT Wild Bunch. This is looking to be a great Wild Bunch match and a great EOT.
  8. Wish we could have been there. I see that Dusty took Overall Man and his wife, Miss Treated took Overall Lady. Congratulations to all the winners.
  9. As of today, there are 23 Wild Bunch positions open for EOT 2022. If you know someone who is interested in shooting Wild Bunch let them know. To register, send an email to Sunshine Kay at register@endoftrail.org. These numbers can change as cowboy shooters cancel and their places are filled by cowboys from the waiting list who also shoot WB. We are looking forward to a great match!
  10. As of August 12, there are about 30 spaces left at EOT 2022 for Wild Bunch shooters despite what the website says. The Arizona Territorial Company of Rough Riders have changed the schedule around to give Wild Bunch 180 shooter positions. This will make this coming EOT the largest Wild Bunch shoot ever. Note that the Wild Bunch schedule also is in the process of being changed on the website. We will be shooting 5 stages on Monday and Tuesday, February 28 and March 1. Side matches including long range BAMM and Sgt York as well as Teddy Roosevelt and Doughboy stages will be run on Wednesday March 2. To register for Wild Bunch, just email your intention to Sunshine Kay at register@endoftrail.org. Lets fill up this shoot.
  11. This thread and the thread on the cowboy wire were started at the same time for different reasons. The cowboy thread started by pointing out a question that is no longer valid. We appreciate that being brought to our attention although there are much easier and better ways to do that. Nonetheless, the answers to all the questions are easy to find, as pointed out by PaleWolf Brunelle. The questions, or others like them, are essential for keeping spam bots off our wire. Before the questions were implemented, our volunteer moderators spend an inordinate amount of time fixing the damage done to the forum. We have had four new members join in the last day so it cannot be too difficult. However, our moderators are working to make things flow smoothly and are always open to suggestions. It is interesting that this thread has had almost 500 views but only 25 people have voted. The WB wire has always been constructive and positive. We want it to grow and continue to be useful to the members. Your constructive opinions are valued.
  12. Kudos to you for promoting the sport of Wild Bunch and coping with the current situation. Thanks for educating people on the rules.
  13. There are no typos. Tuesday afternoon will be devoted to changing the 10 stages we shot to get them ready for the cowboy shoot. We are going to need quite a few WB volunteers to help with the stage changeover on Tuesday afternoon. It is critical that we get enough people to make sure the changeover goes smoothly and on time. We are fortunate to be able to schedule these major side matches on Wednesday to run alongside those already scheduled. It was the best we could do to accommodate all the shooters. Because of the changes, side match times have not been finalized but both the long range and TR/DB events will be scheduled for a number of hours each to allow WB shooters to shoot both WB and cowboy side matches. Everyone needs to keep in mind that we are going to need a few volunteers to make this work for everyone. We ask WB shooters to consider donating an hour to helping out with the WB side matches. We will be working with cowboy to ensure all the side matches run smoothly and that there are enough volunteers to ensure they do. It is very exciting to have so many Wild Bunch shooters.
  14. Great news. Black Jack Zak and the Arizona Territorial Company of Rough Riders have worked hard to expand the EOT 2022 Wild Bunch match as a result of the great demand. To that end, they have approved a new limit of 180 shooters. There are now 145 shooters registered including those who were on the waiting list. There are 35 spots left. If you have not yet registered, go to www.endoftrail.org and register now. Shooters will be taken on a first come basis. If it shows that WB is full, that will be changed shortly. The format will be 10 posses, shooting 5 stages each morning Monday and Tuesday. Speed side matches will be held Monday afternoon. Long range BAMM and Sgt York will be held Wednesday afternoon with Teddy Roosevelt and Doughboy being held Wednesday morning. This will be the biggest Wild Bunch match ever and one that you will enjoy.
  15. Congratulations to Shell Stuffer and Half-a-Hand Henri, top male and female EOT Wild Bunch Shooters. Also congratulations to all the category winners. Thanks so much to the match officials and posse marshals for making it such a success.
  16. On behalf of Serenity, I am posting a request for volunteers to help out at the WB EOT side matches on Friday, June 18 from 2 pm to 5 pm. If anyone can see their way clear to spare one hour or even a half hour during this time, we would appreciate you volunteering either for the long range or the Teddy Roosevelt/Doughboy match. With a handful of volunteers, everyone can have enough time to shoot everything they want while supporting EOT and lightening the load for the organizers. If you can find the time to volunteer to help out, please PM me and I will get back to you or you can just post on this thread that you are willing to help and we will contact you directly. Thanks everyone, it is greatly appreciated. Legendary Lawman
  17. On behalf of the Wild Bunch Range Operations Committee, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Holy Terror to our committee. Holy Terror not only brings a wealth of Cowboy and Wild Bunch experience but also beneficial knowledge of multiple other shooting disciplines. This past weekend she was the ESP Division High Lady at the Truglo Texas State IDPA Championship using an SR 1911 custom. We welcome Holy Terror and look forward to her support of the sport of Wild Bunch Action Shooting. Legendary Lawman WB ROC Chair
  18. From Serenity Incorporating these ideas, both WR and EOT have been moving WB in this direction. Those shooting Wild Bunch at EOT next month will find that most of the stages give the shooter options. You will get to decide where you start a stage and which order you shoot your guns. Here is your opportunity to use strategy, transitions, and your front sight!
  19. Yes, all bullets must be lead for EOT. Rifle caliber bullets for long range side matches and Teddy Roosevelt and Doughboy may be gas checked.
  20. Sgt Alvin York was awarded the Medal of Honor for an attack during the Argonne Offensive in France in WWI. He used his rifle to clear a German machine gun nest, and was then charged by 6 German soldiers with bayonets. He drew his pistol, and shot them all starting with the last one in line and working forward. This side match honours his actions. You start with your BAMM rifle and 5 rounds of ammunition, and shoot at long range targets. You then switch to your pistol, and with 6 rounds engage the pistol targets starting on the back one and coming forward. We have not finalized distances but at Winter Range last year, the rifle targets were set at 100 to 150 yards and the pistol targets from 40 to 70 yards. Serenity
  21. Artemus is correct. A straw poll was taken and everyone who was asked agreed that they would prefer to shoot all six stages and then have lunch.
  22. Trooper You scared me for a minute. I know that there is bound to be something missing but not this time at least. The penalty to which you are referring, is listed as the last bullet under Stage DQs on page 22 of the Shooters Handbook. Thanks, I appreciate you taking the time to review the manuals. For anyone that might have missed the synopsis of the 2021 Rule Changes, there is a link at the bottom of the page after the manuals, on this website, under RULES.
  23. I will discuss the issue of recoil pads with the ROC and get a final answer. We will also discuss maximum velocity. Great comments on this thread - thank you.
  24. If you are going to carry a one-round magazine, just make sure that it is always in the same place and you don't mix it up with a full magazine. Loading the one-round mag when you think you are loading a full mag is embarrassing. Loading a full magazine when you think you are loading a one-round mag can get you in a lot of trouble.
