  1. I cain't hardly wait. Wisht I could be down thar in Comfort Sat but we will have at least 3 of us shooting WB here Sat. And try to knock some of the rust off...
  2. Also to not allow the Yugos is just silly
  3. BIG really big mistake not to allow ladies and kids to shorten stocks. For, as we all know -- if mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy...
  4. BAMM is not bullseye and the 100 to 200 yard range is certainly not long range by any means. The lead pills I shoot out of my Mosins do the job fine. It's the old shaky shooter that causes the misses. By no means should we dis-allow any of the military bolt action Mausers. I do not care when they were built. That line of "reasoning" is much too unreasonable. Hell there may have even been Moisins built after WWII. Let 'em all shoot. Last BAMM match I shot at TX state two years ago they even let me shoot a Moisin with an ugly gray plastic modern stock! Dusty is SO right -- we are trying to grow BAMM not throttle it. I know at CVV lead pills are required per the land owner and that means handloads. Precludes cheap surplus ammo. If your range allows, shooting the surplus will get you a lot more shooters I do sincerely believe
  5. it stays ready. Has a nice sling and I plan to wrap it and shoot off my hind legs like I always do. Fast and furious battle style. None of that sittin' bench restin' business. The Krag has yet to be fired but I have some legal all lead ammo for it. I know the hopper mag is slower than the stripper clip reloadable rifles but it ain't like I am in any kind of the runnin' anyhoo's. Cain't hardly wait...
  6. You may just have a point there Mulo but I have seen some really scary stuff done by newby WB shooters. HAR! and lol ha ha Travis! Speed and me are not acquainted. Came in next to last at the first TX State only because last place did not show Sunday. Since that initial moment of glory, it's consistently last place over all for me. I' ll stick to slingshotting but thanks for the attempt to school an old dog pard!
  7. thanks Dusty. Bringing my 44 Moisin and a Krag to TX State. Yup when I asked a coupla years ago the powers that be advised no slings allowed in main match WBAS matches. Safety hazard
  8. I always use the slingshot method. Always have, much prefer it. Just do. The only time I would ever use the slide release is if my off hand or arm are out of the fight. Then, of course and by necessity, the slide release would have to be utilized. To each his own YMMV. I do not consider it all that much if any slower as it is accomplished as the gun comes up to the line of sight and the two hand grip re-acquired. With the level of expertise with the 1911 that many new WBAShooters display, I feel it is a very good thing we never use the safety and never have the pistol cocked and locked. Just too chancy. Makes me shudder to think about and consider...
  9. so slings are legal on BAMM rifles? I guess it would be up to each Match Director as so far SASS is not meddling in to BAMM shooting far as I know. And slings are still illegal on main match leverguns and shotguns are they not?
  10. completely totally legal in both games
  11. allrighty then, that is some really good news. I will get in touch with him soon. Don't suppose there is a website?
  12. Well Grouch the TRP stays home. It is not WBAS legal. For the extended mag well if nothing else. Nobody cares around here as we all shoot wide Open category. So it will get shot some Sunday. I have about 6 or so legal electric guns and 3 at least will make the trip. Yes I have umpteen bolt action rifle guns to shoot BAMM with. The only problem is getting lead pill ammo because of that restriction at that range. I still have some lead 7.62 x 54R I shot the Mosins with at TX State two year ago (last year was the first one I missed). And I have some lead 30/40 Krag for my carbines. Sure would like to find some lead 8mm Mauser fodder... ...if anyone knows of some somewhere for sale...
  13. Picked up a TRP Springfield. Great gun. Nice sights, excellent trigger. Came with the supplied 8 rd mags and a Sprgfld 10 rounder. Also 5 of the older pre shooting star Chip McCormick mags and 5 Laka 7 rounders. Never heard of those meownself. Anyone else? Appear to be good 'uns. The TRP is sweet. Great trigger, nice sights etc etc
  14. 1 or 2 seconds is of no matter to me who should be timed with a sundial
  15. thans Fred. So you did that on that M12 I got from Miss Cubbie? Did not know that was part of the package. Like I say I am immune to recoil especially since I only shoot featherlites so recoil is/was not my concern or reason for starting this thread.
  16. Thanks pard. I was just wondering and now I know. Slicking will be good enuff. Ha ha every 10 years when they get less than an inch in Houston I hear they let out school!. If they did that up here we would have to have school in the summer
  17. People of the great Panhandle never get snowed in. We still go as we are used to it. Unlike you humidity breathers who become paralyzed with an inch or less of the white stuff. Still looking for answers to the chamber/forcing cone lengthening/tapering-out and/or back-boring questions ??
  18. I am immune to recoil and that thing is too pricey for poor fat boy. Sorry I mentioned recoil as that is not my concern, heck I use featherlites. I was just wondering if the ole M12s could maybeso be enhanced by chamber and forcing cone lengthening. And if they are compatible with modern shells. Maybe do the back-boring thing whatever that is and entails
  19. I have been acquiring a few M12s and was wondering if it would help with recoil and such if they were given the Vang comp improvements or anything along those lines. Two are in the shop now getting slicked and I was thinking of asking him to do something along those lines to the chambers and forcing cones. Are all M12 chambers compatible with the modern 2.75 inch plastic shells? Or are they somewhat on the short side like 97s ? Thanks for any insight pards
  20. I have used those for years, real good rounds
  21. Well she sure shot sweet, and helped me retain my CRR WB title. No sweat as once again I was the only one showed up with a 1911, the other 8 shooters shot regular CAS. No blips or bobbles and most of all no misses. I have never ever been so in love with a firearm. Light as a wand, hammer of Thor it almost shoots itself and it's projectiles track right into the target seemingly without operator input or guidance. Kinda sorta almost like a fire and forget system... I want to be buried with it, it will be my constant companion.
  22. Well Grouch I may not have deserved it but after stewing and chewing on it for so long I just had to have it. Gonna shoot it Sat at our regular 5th Sat WB shoot. It ain't WBAS okey dokey legal but around here nobody cares. Hell, half the time I am the only one shows up with a 1911. I think the most we ever had for a WB posse was like 6 mebbe 7 and it has fallen off thru the years to where it's no more than 3. Durn it... Shoot fire, wanta shoot a 9mm 1911? Hi Power, Luger, Radom, Nambu, Tok? Fine and james dandy just show up...
  23. why yes my good man exactly like that one except mine has the blued slide
