  1. SHB Pg 38 Action Cycled (lever and pump action long guns) – Opening the action far enough to cock the hammer. The only penalty is for Not Cycling the Action. Don't like it? Contact your TG.
  2. Glad you got your suit on, See reference above. If you don't like the rule, take it up with your TG to have it brought up at the next vote. Until then, SxS must be empty. Pump and Lever guns must have actions cycled, per the glossary of terms.
  3. SHB Pg 22 "There is no penalty for an empty case/hull in a gun that is open or that the shooter has cycled. If a proper attempt has been made to cycle the gun, it will be cocked." SHB Pg 38 "Action Cycled (lever and pump action long guns) – Opening the action far enough to cock the hammer."
  4. The answer was given, multiple times. Any type of round, except live, left in any, cycleable, firearm is a no call if the action has been cycled. SxS cannot "cycle the action" therefore, any round left in the SxS is, either a MSV or SDQ. Again, not for the round but for NOT cycling the action.
  5. Again, the penalty is NOT for leaving empties in the discarded gun, it's for NOT CYCLING THE ACTION. SHB Pg, 28 You need to get your head away from what's in the discarded gun, and look to, has the action been cycled. As there is no action to cycle in a SxS, it must be emptied. All long guns, lever, pump or sxs, with a live round in the chamber is a SDQ penalty.
  6. That's because there is no penalty for leaving a round on the carrier or in the magazine, the penalty is for not cycling the action. SHB Pg 28: - "Not cycling the action of a long gun at the end of the shooting string before the next firearm is fired" The only penalty for a round left is for a Live Round in the Chamber. As the definition of "Action Cycled" is spelled out in the SHB Glossary, pg 38, as "Action Cycled (lever and pump action long guns) – Opening the action far enough to cock the hammer." It shows the SxS does not fall under this, therefore, the chambers must be empty.
  7. The reason that part of the rule is there, and will be there, is to ensure the sxs shooters attempt to cycle instead of just open, drop, and run.
  8. Shooter choice is up to the shooter and the TO. The counters watch/listen for misses, and assist in watching for procedural errors. The TO is the one who determines if, or not, the shooters "choice" is in line with the scenario and rules. As the TO is the person closest to the shooter, and should be looking at the gun, is in the best position to tell whether the "choice" is legal or not. The minute spotters take their eyes off the targets, they loose the focus they should have regarding misses and potential procedural errors.
  9. There are no rules, that I know of, that involve watching "target engagement" only watching for proper strikes/misses. The only person who should, remotely, be watching the gun is the TO. Spotters should be watching the targets. And other than TO's and Spotters, no one has a say in P's or Misses.
  10. SHB Pg 19, top of page. Handling Conventions - Shotguns - In Wild Bunch Action Shooting, side by side/double barrel shotguns are loaded under TO supervision at the staging location and staged open. The action may not close until “after the beep.” Any additional rounds needed must be loaded from the body or other specified staging position. If vertical staging is used, the double/side by side will have to be staged empty. It's allowed at the Start of the Stage, not any other time during the stage.
  11. Click on the flyer link in the first post. Only thing not there is the round count. As for round count, I always estimate 30 rounds, pistol, per stage. Some higher, some lower, but that's a good number. Rifle I figure 10. Shotgun 6. If I bring ammo back, that's ok.
  12. I use WST. I know a lot of shooters use VV but I don't know which, and, that decision should be up to the shooter.
  13. Vitivhouri is being used by a lot of shooters in the States
  14. Safe Conditions During a Course of Fire – Shotguns A shotgun is considered SAFE to leave the shooter’s hands in the following condition only (some conditions may be corrected before firing the next firearm): - Empty. - No live round in the chamber, action cycled, and muzzle safely downrange. - Hammer fully down on an empty chamber or expended round, action closed (restaged for further use) - Action open. Believe this answers that question. As long as the action is open, the shotgun is safe to leave the shooters hands, whether there are rounds in the chamber or not.
  15. First, what club are you a member of? Second, go to the main page here and see the post about "welcome 2024-2025 WBAS Leadership" Third, scroll down until you come to your State/Club and find the TG listed. If you're club is not on there, then contact you club officers and get a WBTG elected and into the program.. The WBTG should do the same as the CAS TG by being a conduit, to and from, SASS WB ROC and the Club regarding WB Questions, policies, changes etc.
  16. I have been shooting SASS for over 20 years. If you're voice isn't being heard, and is the majority voice, change your TG. It's, really, that simple. Don't whine, don't complain, change it.
  17. Until the "new" TG/ROC, there were only ROC and Ambassadors. Neither of which were in touch with the rank and file shooters. They only listened to their over inflated egos and self worth. Now, each, club, each member, each shooter has a voice. And, if the current TG/ROC don't listen, they can, and will, be replaced by those who will.
  18. AGAIN, during course of fire, not at end of string. Apples and Oranges. At the END of the pistol shooting, the pistol MAY NOT BE HOLSTERED.
  19. The TG's submit member concerns, questions, inputs to the ROC. The ROC formulates answers. The answers are promulgated to the TG's who, in turn, take them to the members for input/votes. The members send their inputs/votes to the TG's who take them to the ROC. If the members say yea, or nae, the ROC adopts the results. That's the way it should work. If it doesn't, change who's at fault. TG's, ROC's, whomever. The members are the deciding body. Just like a Republic, one person, one vote. Since this is a "wholly owned subsidiary of SASS, the final say is in their purview. I'm sure SASS will do what the members desire if, financially, ideology, and legally, feasible.
  20. At the END of the pistol shooting string(s), the pistol is discarded, not holstered. And only holstered when cleared by the appropriate person.
  21. These are all holstering a "ready" gun, not a gun shot dry. Guns shot dry are not re-holstered.
  22. No so. IPSC, IDPA, use only pistols and don't holster. Modern 3 Gun allow reholstering pistol until it is shot dry then it must be place in the bucket, and remain in the bucket until cleared. No other shooting sport allows reholstering a pistol once the pistol is no longer used.
  23. There is no penalty for overloading any firearm. It's what you do with that unfired round which earns the penalty. In the case of rifles: overloaded round fired = P; left in mag tube/on carrier = MSV; any portion in chamber = SDQ; used to complete shooting string = M + P; ejected = No Call. In the case of pistol: if fired = P; if used to compete shooting string = P + M; if left under the hammer = SDQ; if left in cylinder, but not under hammer, = No Call.
  24. I would suggest you contact your TG, provide them with actual handbook citations regarding this issue, and help them work on it. It all starts with the TG's.
