  4. Feb 17th could work for me too. I'd prefer it to be in the evening (or as late as possible) on the 17th. Other good options for me would be after the black powder match on Feb 11-12 or any time on Feb 25-26, but I know that's a busy weekend just before EoT. Thanks for setting this up!
  5. Assuming the shooter never moved with or discarded the pistol, no call. Shooter didn't use overloaded ammo (that we can be sure of). The TO should have noticed if one of the first three mags was overloaded. If they didn't, then we should give the benefit to the shooter and assume it was the final mag.
  6. I apologize if our forum makes you sadder than any other on the Internet. Make no mistake, it's not that we care that you edit your post, it's that we're volunteers and we can only fix things like this if they get reported. Thank you for your professional report. Much obliged. Edit: all registered members can now edit/delete their own content at any time.
  7. Consider limiting the initial shotgun staging to 4 rounds in the tube. This eliminates the potential for a live round falling into the chamber when they discard the open gun, and it forces your shooters to load 2 from the body or table, which is a good skill to practice.
  8. Stages for this month have been uploaded to the calendar --- The 'squatch is back for more pain! Calendar link: https://wildbunch.sassnet.com/calendar/event/5-m-az-opsa-monthly-match/
  9. Often, I'll just lube the rails between matches. If it stays wet, it seems to run fine. About every 2-3 matches or so, I'll do the standard field strip to remove all the fouling. About twice a year or before a big match, I'll remove the firing pin and extractor (series 80). I've never removed the trigger assembly, and I've only removed the mainspring housing once to change the mainspring 😬 I know this is poor hygiene, but my stainless R1 keeps chugging along after ~4 years and an estimated 20k rounds. Still, don't be like me. For a new pistol, I think you'll want to keep it well lubed through the break-in period to prevent excessive wear, but I'm about as far from a qualified gunsmith as you can get.
  10. Welcome! You're going to like it here. It's tough to beat the look and authenticity of a campaign hat, but I like a wide brim because it's often sunny and hot in Southern Arizona. This is a pretty cheap hat that works well for most SASS shooting, but I do have to push it up or remove it when shooting long range or BAMM from the bench. I accidentally won a shooting costume contest as a "vigilante" with the pictured getup, and that was a nice surprise. Link to hat: https://bigbendsaddlery.com/Palm-Leaf-Hats-c72522235 Pictured (L to R): Artemus Von Schutze (MO 2021 Traditional State Champ and fine example of a Bavarian costume), me in the award-winning hat (ha!), and Able N Willin with a nice example of a cavalry-ish hat.
  11. Is that the same weekend as the AZ BP match? I can't seem to find any info on the 2023 AZ WBAS match.
  12. Thanks for the reminder -- just dropped my app in the mail.
  13. Why not just shoot in the modern category with one hand? I'm working on a technique to do that on stages that have a lot of mag changes.
  14. I've posted the stages for this Sunday's match over on the calendar -- It's the return of Sasquatch!

  17. Cool! I have to be back in Tucson on Aug 7th, otherwise I'd come up for the weekend. Good luck with the match -- I hope to get up there eventually.
  18. Any news on this match? Trying to figure out how long I can stay on the road this fall 😅
  19. Interesting -- thanks for posting JFN. As a (former?) traditional shooter, I consider the mag release cut extremely beneficial. I can see how the palm swell might provide enhanced grip, especially when both yer mitts are on it, but I wouldn't guess it would be more beneficial than the mag cut.
  20. I'm curious what the rules committee will say about this. I believe these grips meet the intent of the rules (basically, no thumb rests), but I don't think they meet the wording of the rules (straight taper allowed, others not specifically listed are not allowed). This is my opinion/interpretation. brb... grabbing a cup of coffee 😅
