Slingshot = Pinch the back of the slide with your thumb and forefinger, pull back and release.

Overhand = Reach over the top of the slide with your hand and grasp it with more of your hand and fingers.

There is probably a couple ways to do overhand. I use the front serrations on a couple of my guns with just my thumb and forefinger and find that works very well for me. It is sort of a combination of the slingshot and overhand.

I shoot traditional, left handed and it seems that slingshot racking is the most efficient for me.  Also, when and if I have to do a manual slide lock it the only way to go.

Doesn't make any difference!  In a correct over hand cock the hand is off the top of the slide before it begins to return to battery.  If your hand is still there you are riding the slide down and causing a host of other chambering problems.  A Ka-boom happens when the slide is not fully racked allowing the ejector to hit the primer.  You usually see it with Glocks with their pointy ejector and a shooter trying to eject a live round into their cupped hand because they are too lazy to bend over and pick them up off the ground.

For me the overhand is faster.
