VICIOUS
Hi Gang; The question of the day is, are full length steel guild rods on the recoil springs a benefit in WB shooting? Is the added weight faster second shot? Or is the short stock guide best for the WB game?
DUSTY BODDAMS
I don’t run full length guide rods in any 1911 I own. Can’t clear a bad jam as easy. No improvement to accuracy. I think it’s a solution looking for a problem 8) Others might have a higher opinion
J. Frank Norfleet
I shoot both and see no advantage for our game. To agree with Dusty, it is easier to clear a bad jam if you don't have one. JFN
August West
Can affect overall weight of pistol.
Last Chance
I use full length guide rods in every 1911 I use. Easier disassembly less spring drag tad bit more weight No special advantages really and the GI guide rod has worked fine for a long-long time. Just my preference. Baltimoreed11754
I use a FL rod in my Gold Cup/Caspian build but prefer the flat recoil springs in my other 5 inch 1911s. The FL and flat springs feel smoother to me and I’ve always thought that the extra weight and guide rod helped accuracy wise in a pistol with big adjustable sights.
