J. Frank Norfleet Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 Anybody got to fondle or shoot the Colt Wiley Clapp government model? Thoughts? JFN Quote
J. Frank Norfleet Posted July 1, 2015 Author Posted July 1, 2015 Silvertip, that made me laugh. Quote
Boggus Deal Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Not got to shoot one but have handled a couple at shows. Other than the plastic trigger, I like it. Good sights, thumb safety, front strap checkering, metal mainspring housing, if I remember correctly. Stocks are too thick for my tastes but an easy fix. No guide rod. Quote
Blackfoot Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Strange that they call it a "government model". Blackfoot Quote
Wild Bodie Tom Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Any you folks ever met Wiley????? Been awhile..... Quote
Boggus Deal Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 I have, WBT. Did not get to spend a lot of time with him but he seems like a down to earth, nice guy. Quote
J. Frank Norfleet Posted July 2, 2015 Author Posted July 2, 2015 Colt marketing at its best. The model is not named after a shooter, but a gun writer. But it does have some features that I really like and might make a good pistol to live in my truck for every day shooting. JFN Quote
Happy Jack Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 I've known Wiley casually for 30+ years. He used to shoot a good bit. His health has relegated him to only writing and some testing in recent years. He is a good friend of my good friend Wayne Novak. That is our connection. Quote
