  1. Announced today-the Belton Gun Club in Upstate South Carolina (home of the Belton Bushwhackers and host club for “The Bushwhack”, the 2022 South Carolina State Match), will hold 5th Saturday Wild Bunch matches beginning January 29, 2022. Match Director Gerald Dunn alias Dun Gamblin (alias Sergeant Dork in Wild Bunch) is an experienced cowboy match Director who has been shooting Wild Bunch for years. The Belton club is a great facility with wide separated shooting bays and lots of reactive steel. I knew 2022 was going to be a good year for shooting. This is just icing on the cake. No, it’s another cake. A big one!
  2. The match has been canceled due to an unfavorable weather forecast.
  3. Round count will be 133 pistol, 33 rifle, 18 shotgun.
  4. Late notice but HCC (just below the TN state line off of I-26 near Wolf Laurel, NC) are hosting a match the day before Halloween. Round count TBA.
  5. Tactical reloads have been legal since at least January 2018. This assumes, of course, that the reload happens when the shooter is not moving. Movement with a round in the chamber of the pistol remains a SDQ.
  6. Thanks to the moderators for keeping this forum so good. It’s also due to the participants who keep discussions helpful and positive. I read the Wire but many people whose opinions I respect have given up on it.
  7. Not sure this is the thread in question but it raises some good points: https://forums.sassnet.com/index.php?/topic/320580-wild-bunch-wire/
  8. A club in my area hosted a Wild Bunch match this past Saturday. It was the first time that several of the shooters had tried Wild Bunch. It was a lot of fun. The round count was kept a little low in light of the current ammo shortage. The stage in question had two shotgun targets. The shooter loaded four rounds into his ‘97 at the LT. He dropped both shotgun KDs, opened the action and discarded the shotgun. The shooter assumed he would get a MSV for the live rounds (one on the carrier, one in the magazine. I told him, no, you did not fire the overloaded rounds, no live round in the chamber, and shotgun was cycled at the end of the string. No call. We had the usual frustrations of pistols not running 100% with legal ammo, pump shotguns that don’t cycle, and changing magazines on the clock, so it was nice to show new WB shooters that this game has eliminated some unnecessary penalties. Now to convince folks that they need not pause to eject an empty magazine at the end of the pistol string!
  9. Round count announced as 91 pistol, 45 rifle and 18 shotgun.
  10. Skeeter Willie announced a six stage Wild Bunch match on Saturday July 31, 2021 at 9:30 am. High Country Cowboys is located in Wolf Branch, NC just below the TN state line off of I-26. If you don’t have a compliant rifle a .38 rifle will be allowed. The round count will be kept a little low in light of current shortages (most stages will require 14 pistol).
  11. What was the limit?
  12. I’m sure there are others out there who enjoy tinkering and building. I’ve looked at buying a second 1911 as a backup, or just because. Then it occurred to me that I could get some of the changes I would like by changing the slide. Probably get a new barrel as well. Anyone have a recommendation of brands? Places to buy? Complete uppers for AR pattern rifles are very common but I don’t see 1911 “complete uppers” offered for sale, other than .22 conversions. Probably because they will require fitting. If no complete uppers, same question about purchasing slides and barrels.
  13. I’m sorry to have missed this match after loading all the ammo and sighting in two borrowed BAMM rifles but my daughter had emergency surgery so I will have to look for another opportunity later on. My daughter is home now recuperating and my wife encouraged me to beat feet to Indiana to make the Cowboy main match.
  14. Great, thanks. Going to sight in the BAMM rifle over the holiday weekend.
  15. It’s a misconception that SASS rules require slick soled boots.
  16. Is there more than one BAMM? Round count, please? Estimated target distances?
  17. We had 24 shooters and great weather. Our regional Ambassadors Deadwood Woody and Sassy Teton Lady made the trip and each took a category win. Congratulations to Cody Maverick for taking top overall. Thanks to MD Cotton Gloves for planning a great match and to Gunpowder Creek Regulators for hosting.
  18. Super, thanks. Round count for the side matches?
  19. I read the Handbook language about BAMM/Doughboy ammo. Will the EOT instructions vary from the lead bullet requirements? I can bring a K-31 and/or a 1903 Springfield, assuming my work schedule allows me to make it for side match day. I am not set up to load either cartridge. Is there a source for EOT compliant ammunition for these rifles?
  20. I received the mags I ordered. An excellent buying experience. At one of my first WB matches someone ended up with one of my magazines. I’ve tried several methods of marking mags for identification but nothing has proved durable enough. The engraving takes care of that! Looking forward to trying them out.
  21. I sent an email. Never have too many magazines!
  22. There is no application this time; Cotton Gloves said “you show up, you shoot”!
  23. Cotton Gloves posted the date of the match, again hosted by the Gunpowder Creek Regulators in Lenoir, NC. Six stages with lunch provided. It’s always a good match. This will be a pistol and shotgun only match. Guess who finally bought a forty-plus rifle? Oh well, it does double duty as my Frontier Cartridge rifle in cowboy.
  24. Thanks, all. I ordered a slide from Doc Noper to hold four shotshells and two rifle cartridges.
  25. As a rule I don’t wear a shotshell belt in Wild Bunch unless the stage has more than six shotgun targets. I’m inclined to order a slide for my gunbelt to hold some shotshells and a rifle cartridge or two. What is the trend for an adequate number of shotgun shells to carry to the line? Four would be pretty compact and would cover a ten round stage.
