Does anyone have experience with the Colt Competition 1911 .45?

 

Does the dual recoil spring system keep it from being used in Wild Bunch?

It appears that the dual spring system would be illegal.

 

Page 6, Shooing Handbook version 14.4 dated March 2020 states under Modern Pistol Modifications: " No recoil reducing devices are allowed."

 

Colt's technical description on their website of the Competition series states:  "Dual Recoil spring system reduces felt recoil while extending recoil spring life."

 

Were the Dual spring system removed a a GI or Full Length Guide Rod and single recoil spring used, the Competition series would be legal. 

 

That's my story and I'm sticking to it unless proven otherwise!

I agree 100% with Grouchy Spike. Systems similar to that are listed as examples of illegal recoil reducing devices.  Chang it out and it is a legal modern pistol.

[Boggus Deal]

Keep the small diameter guide rod and use a flat wire recoil spring. It uses the smaller diameter rod and lasts a lot longer. It’s also smoother.

Boggus, thanks for the info on the spring. Would you say that the pistol itself is a reasonable quality 1911?
