Dirty Southpaw Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 in the handbook it says the 1911 sights may be painted.... now I'm a rookie but I saw someone using neon green paint on there 1911 sights, is this kind of thing allowed, I know the rules are more specific for the rifle but on pistol its vague.... so are neon colors ok on your 1911? J. Frank Norfleet Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Yes, if you shoot modern. Not for traditional. I used neon green until I went to a brass bead. JFN Quote
Samuel B Carpenter Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Hey Norfleet Where did you find your bead 1911 front sight and what brand is it? Thanks Samuel B Quote
J. Frank Norfleet Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Sam, Missed you this year. Here is where I got mine. http://www.sdmfabricating.com/index.htm Remember they are not finished. JFN Quote
Boggus Deal Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Samuel, Wilson Combat also sells finished gold bead sights. I like the SDM ones better. Quote
J. Frank Norfleet Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Sam, There are a number of bead front sights. The SDM is large and mounted with a .140 U notch rear sight made by 10-8 it gave me the sight picture I wanted. Quote
Happy Jack Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Wayne Novak has made real gold front sights for years. (I've had one for about 10 years) Also has nice rear sights. Quote
