Is the slide and barrel ported?

Only talking about the rear slide cut itself, not the pistol pictured.  Nighthawk will cut any 1911 slide to accept the plate, then you can swap between rear sight options (red dot, etc) and not lose zero.   So, for WB, assuming the rear that is installed on the plate is legal, would that modification to a 1911 slide be legal?

Interesting though

Are you looking at the same picture? Obviously, the front sight dovetails into the slide. And neither the barrel nor slide is ported.

I see that it is dovetailed into a piece of metal, but what is the "line" lot the rear of the front sight?

He’s not talking about the front sight or the ports. He’s talking about the rear sight. The rear sight dovetails to a plate and by changing just the plate, you can mount several different sighting options. With the Novak style rear sight, it would not add any weight to the gun. If anything it might take a little away.

For this topic, let's assume a currently legal 1911 pistol was modified with this rear slide cut and a plate was installed with a known legal rear sight.  Would the modified pistol still be WB legal (modern or traditional)?

Looks like an idea long overdue.

Thinking you could have 1 custom 1911 with the ability to use in WB along with other disciplines with a quick plate change on the rear.  At ~$350, that's a deal!

Boggus, why didn't you think of that?  you would be rolling in the dough from the royalties.

Tell me about it!

Since it is not specifically allowed, let's get an official ruling and see if it can be legal.

That would take a submission to SASS for a modification, referred to the ROC for review/discussion

and voted on by the TG's.

A covered up optics cut looks better than a light rail…

I don't have one of those either.

Although it's mostly because I'm too cheap to buy more holsters.  And my holster box is full.
