Jorge Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 How do you think the Colt Competition 1911, in .45acp would be for Modern? The front sight would have to be changed from the fiber optic that it comes with, but the Colt looks like a possibility . Already has nice grips, with the thumb recess, no palm swell, etc. It is supposed to have a "match " barrel. Quote
Elwood James Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 Should be a nice pistol. As you stated, need to change the fiber optic sight. Not sure about the dual recoil spring. Rule states: No recoil reducing devices are allowed. This means no Springcoil, STI, Fire Dragon, Hartts, tungsten, or similar recoil reducing guide rods, full length dust covers, extra weights, and the like. 1 Quote
Tully Mars Posted October 29, 2022 Posted October 29, 2022 If it has a duel recoil spring, that would need to be changed as well. Duel recoil springs fall under recoil reducing devices and are illegal. Should be a great gun! 2 Quote
J. Frank Norfleet Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 Competition is a great pistol. Get a Wilson combat flat recoil spring and you can use the .25" guide rod that comes in the dual recoil spring set up. Some have a plastic mainspring housing that I'd replace watching the pistol weight. JFN Quote
Jorge Posted October 30, 2022 Author Posted October 30, 2022 Thanks for the information. I may have to look into the various components, front sight, etc. Quote
