Some people shooting a 1911 pistol, have their thumb, accidentally flip the safety on while shooting. It has never been a problem for me, as I am left handed, a recommended way to shoot a 1911 is to have your thumb on top of the safety while shooting, if flicking the safety on is a problem. I would not think this would be a comfortable way to shoot, I would probably just get a new plunger assembly for my gun.

I have a small question. Why is it ok. to expedite in a regular cowboy match, but not in Wild Bunch? The same warnings would apply, if the gun has rounds in it, etc. or something just doesn't look right, don't touch it, and let the shooter handle it. Not wanting to start a war, just a question.

No problems using lead at lower velocities. As for cleaning, I dry brush the barrel with a bronze brush, before using solvents, it seems that the lead will come out in chunks, then I use solvent an a bronze brush.

I asked the same question, several months ago, the answer is no, extra rounds can not be fired into the berm, without getting a penalty. Simple as that.

I was reading on the SASS page, that someone wants to start another category, like there is not too many now. A Steampunk category, what is a Steampunk? I have checked all my western history photos, and not one have any cowboys wearing welders goggles. I hope Wildbunch will stay like it is, modern and traditional.

Yesterday, I picked up a U.S. and crossed sabers collar insignias for my Wild Bunch shirt. (Dickies, from Walmart.) Looks good.

Yesterday, I saw some good deals on campaigne hats on E-Bay.

Part of the fun is getting your clothes together. Shot my first match, with my sass clothes. Later got a smoky bear hat from e-bay, a Dickies shirt from e-bay, total cost $21.00. Still searching resale shops for britches.

Thanks Jack and Joe, the problem that I seem to have is, I was loading 4.8 of WST behind the 200gr. LSWC, and everything works fine, but the empty cases show signs of excessive pressure, as the primers seem to be flattened some. I thought I would try loading 4.6gr. and see if the problem cures itself.

I don't own a chronograph, so I can only use info posted on loading data sites. My Hodgdon loading data info. using Winchester WST powder and a 200gr. LSWC bullet in a 45 acp. the following. Min load 4.4 gr, 830 fps. Max load 5.1gr, 910 fps. that is an 80 fps difference in velocity between min and max loads also a 7/10 of a grain of powder difference. If you took the 80 fps. divided it by 7, that would equal about 11.43 fps, per 1/10 gr. of powder. Now if I wanted to add 2/10gr. of powder from min. load of 4.4 it would be a load of 4.6 grs, 2/10 gr. would, (In the theory) add approx. 22.86 fps to the min load velocity for a velocity of approx. 853 fps. I wish I have a chrono to test this theory out. I know, there are a lot of variables, and most loading fps statements are far from being true. But it was raining today, and I was bored.

That is my problem too, I don't have large hands. I have found that I have to grab the slide, just behind the muzzle, to rack it and lock the slide with my trigger finger....it works, but I will need to practice.

I think I posted this question in the wrong place. First, I am a new shooter, only shot my 3rd. match, but I have a question. A shooter shoots his shotgun, goes to the pistol, the stage requires, 1 shot on #1 target, 1 shot on #2 target, and 3 shots on #3 target, a reload, and complete the sequence again. My question is, perhaps the shooter is ok. with shooting #1 and #2 targets, but has a malfunction, he clears the gun reloads and shoots the correct number of shots on #3, leaving 2 in the gun. My question is, can the shooter shoot the extra 2 rounds into the berm, or does he have to manually clear the gun? Someone said it would be an advantage, I don't know, but being left handed, it would require me to change hands to manually clear the gun, and lock the slide. Would it be a spirit of the game violation, or an advantage. I don't know. I can clear and lock the slide back quite quickly, so it doesn't really matter to me, but the situation could appear sometime in the future. Thanks. P.S. the shooter shoots 10 rifle targets after the pistol.

Sounds like the best solution would be to, drop mag. manually eject the chambered round, lock the slide and continue shooting ans have fun. Works for me.

I think manually ejecting the extra rounds might be the ticket, but my question has not been answered. Is it prohibited to shoot the gun dry? Don't you just like questions like this?

O.K. Lets say the pistol was shot in the middle between the shotgun and rifle, can the shooter clear/empty the gun by firing into the berm?

The pistol stage is just 10 rounds, and a simple stage. 3 targets, 1 on 1, 1 on 2, and 3 on 3. On Memorial Day, I shot my second Wild Bunch match. The interrupted progressive sweep was interesting, as was the stage that called for 12 rifle shots. It was a lot of fun. Thank You Lapeer County Sportmans club.
