  1. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Browning_Auto-5, designed in 1898, patented in 1900 and first produced by FN in 1902, marked in the US as Browning Automatic 5, and FN in the rest of the world. 2nd most produced auto-loading shotgun. Produced by FN, Remington, Savage and Miroku.
  2. I have two (new-to-me) 1897s. At the recent Texas WB State Championships I had problems with both of them feeding ammo. At the end of the 1st day I inspected both and found that the "flag" was not coming up ahead of the lifter to keep the round guided into the chamber. Several times during a run, the round would hit the edge of the chamber, not going straight in. I found that there's a screw that holds the flag from following the lifter all the way down, and allowing it to come up ahead of the lifter. The screws in both guns were buggered up and did not have enough length to hold the flag. A couple of new screws later, one works, but the other no holds the round against the flag, not allowing it to fully exit the magazine tube. It appears that the flag may be too thick on this one gun. I have a new flag ordered for the 12 gauge and hope this solves the issue. My question is: as it appears the flag is "riveted" into the carrier, how does one go about changing the flag?
  3. Yep, LD, sorely missed. Your comments were passed along.
  4. 7. Quit kiddin' yourselves, as long as the 1911 remains limited @ 5 rnds, it IS CAS w/a 1911. When the choice is between WB & 3 Gun, where I can use my 8-rnd mags, stoke the 870 w/8, up to 30 rnds in the AR, use the rifle on targets out to 100, 200, 300, 400 yards or beyond; AND shoot till I hit; it ain't even a difficult choice.
  5. I said "other" because you din't have a spot for "UNKNOWN"! ;D I bought my mags over 20 years ago... and can't remember the brand name. They weren't cheap, stainless and have worked great ever since. Bought 2, then went back for 8 more... They've worked in 3 1911s, hoping they'll work in the "new-to-me" I'm buying for WB!
