  1. I appreciate what this individual (yes I know who) did. To take the time and had the fortitude to do all that was needed to get Model 12 approved. The great result is that current and future WB shooters have a great shotgun to use!!!! Nawlins
  2. Happy New Year to everyone. May you all have a healthy and fun New Year!!! Nawlins and Loco Poco Lobo
  3. At the NY State WB last April my rifle load with 200 gr. bullet with Clays was effected by the cool weather we had. Since I never load at the minimum load I had no problem with the Clays meeting the PF. I will now be loading the 45 ACP with Claydot for now on. Nawlins
  4. Recently I was able to purchase a 8 lb container of Claydot. I normally use Clays but I was getting low on powder. Yesterday the temp was around 60 degs. overcast with occasional sprinkling of rain, an anomaly here in Western NY in Nov. My Crony digital is 10 + years old so results may be different with a newer models. I used Remington primers and mixed brass. I normally use 3.7 grains of Clay's and 230 gr. bullet which produces around an average of 751 FPS. This come out to 172 PF The same load with Claydot produced an average of 737 FPS which is a 169 PF The next load was 3.9 grs. CD which produced an average of 777 FPS. which is a 178 PF. The last load was 4.0 grs . CD which produced an average of 780 FPS which is a 179 Pf The interesting thing was the Claydot had a smaller spread of speed ( in fact all three loads had duplicate speeds) than Clay's So ClayDoy can be use with Clay's data with a more consistent FPS Nawlins
  5. Howdy, Loco Poco Lobo and I will be teaching the Wild Bunch RO class at the convention. If you would like to take the class please sent us an e-mail to let us know you are coming.. Our e-mail is wb1911@rochester.rr.com Nawlins
  6. About three years ago we had a WB mini match at our cowboy annual .I was the T/O as the shooter was firing his pistol and it must have been the third round being fired that didn't sound right. Before I could say anything the shooter shot the next round and bang the pistol locked up. When he finally got the pistol apart ( which by the way it was being shot for the first time) the barrel had a horizontal crack about 1 1/2 in. long closer to the bushing end. There was nothing in the barrel. The question is it possible that a squib that stops at the end of the barrel allow the pistol to feed the next round and to fire? Is it also possible that the barrel could have had a defect? I would say it was less than 25 rounds that were shot before the stopage. Nawlins[/size]
  7. Howdy, Loco Poco Lobo and I are teaching WB RO class at the Great Nor-Easter. There is time to sign up for the class. Just send an e-mail to let us know. Nawlins
  8. Congrats on taking the deer with one shot. Now you have proven that Barney was right all you need is one bullet!! :) Great shooting!!! Nawlins
  9. Congrats Lone Dog, it sure is a purdy pistol! LPL and I only have six 1911's. I sold some things I was not using anymore at a gun show last April. I was walking by a table and a 1967 Colt National Match in VG condition called out to me. So after a little discussion on a final price it came home with me and I still had money in my pocket that was used for other purchases. :) Nawlins
  10. LPL's 97 and the model 12 have been both slicked up and both run very good. My SASS category is Classic Cowboy so shooting them Thar pumpers is not natural to me. I have tendency to jack out a live round occasionally from either gun . The hard part is I have to try to remember when I do jack one out not to grab two rounds and try to cock the hammers. ::) Nawlins
  11. Howdy, On pg. 5 of the WB Handbook it states "Magazines must be standard length and cannot hold more than eight rounds. No extended base pads on magazines. This means NO base pads of any kind". I personally would just go out and purchase new magazines and not touch two good magazines that work good in your pistol. Nawlins
  12. Howdy Dusty, For us folks who can't come down to play in your playground a video/pictures would be a good way to explain the match. Also showing shooters having fun is also a good thing. Nawlins
  13. Howdy Dusty Are there any videos that were taken during the match? Nawlins
  14. The brass pickers work great on most surfaces except where there is small gravel and stones. They pick up the brass plus everything else that is small enough that can fit thru the basket wires. Nawlins
  15. Howdy, Loco Poco Lobo and I would like to say that Circle K Regulators did a superb job on putting on their first state WB match!!! The stages were challenging and fun to shoot. And by the happy faces of shooters and them saying they will be back is complement to all who helped to make it happen. Also the food served was excellent. Now Sgt. John I was standing next to your cart when the tire was deflated. I have never seen this happen before. I was getting a little splatter while running the timer. Then I handed off the timer to you and the next thing I know the splatter follows me and takes out your tire. The targets must have been getting even after what I was thinking while I was shooting at them. :) :) Looking forward to have you on our posse again next year. Nawlins
  16. Howdy John boy, When L.P.L. and I shot N-SSA regularly I spent many a winters night casting 58 cal, 50 cal and 69 cal (one at a time ) and 44-40 Henry bullets using sometimes a little over 200 lbs of lead a year. When we started shooting CAS and now WB I call the bullet company and have them shipped. Sometimes instead of counting sheep at night I could count bullets dropping one at a time. :) :) Nawlins PS Years ago I purchased German musket caps for $17 a 1000. I been trading 1000 caps for 2000 LP primers because the musket caps sell for over $ 60 a thousand.
  17. When I purchase my Springfield Mil-Spec I order the extra mags. A month later I called to see if I could order more. After talking to a fellow for a couple of mins asking some question and telling him how I liked the 1911, he told me he would give the discount again if I would tell anyone. So you did not here it from me that if you buy a new gun there is a chance you may be able to buy extra discounted mags ;D Nawlins Kid
