At WR several shooters were describing hollowing out their new G2 grips to get their pistol back below the weight limit. Brownells sells an aluminum alloy mainspring housing (item #100801017) made by Fusion Arms. I weighed my steel one on my powder scale and it was 751.1 gr. The aluminum one weighed 240.1 gr. for a difference of 511.4 gr. At 437.5 gr./oz. that is a little less than 1.17 oz. decrease in weight. Of course no two parts will weigh exactly the same but this is one way to get a little over an ounce of weight off if you add those heavy G2 grips.
