Lone roc ranger
Is there much difference between the Pre-WW1, WW1 and the WW2 1911 military leather holsters and can any of them be used in Wild Bunch matches? Same question for the 1911 canvas military double magazine pouch?
Boggus Deal
There are some minor differences between those holsters. Probably better info at some of the sites that specialize in that sort of thing. Legal for use? Absolutely! Competitive? Not even close.....
Joe Lafives 5481L
When one considers that the draw is the smallest part of shooting the 1911, folding a flap back on a military holster and then drawing from it might cost you a 1/2 second per stage, reloading practice and hitting your targets are the keys. J. Frank Norfleet
One time I picked up a real nice military rig made by El Paso Saddlery. It was their Pershing model complete with a hanger so that you could button the flap up and out of the way. As Joe said the draw was not bad from the holster. What was a bear were the military style mag pouches, too deep and a flap in the way. And mag changes are a big part of this game. Even though it looked cool it never made it to a match and eventually it was sold to finance something else.
Joe Lafives 5481L
Yep, I ended up putting a block of wood in each slot of my mag pouches so that I still have two inches covered. Not the best solution but definitely helped.
