Whitey James
So far (2 matches) I have only seen one person shooting Traditional category. Is this pretty much the standard out there or just me not seeing enough matches? One thing I noticed was the only difference was the 1911 and how many hands you can use. I am a terrible one handed shooter and even worse with my weak hand. May be fun to have a stage that requires you to shoot two mags with your right hand and 2 with your left (either one handed or two handed) to spice things up. Back when I carried a gun for a living our semi annual qualification required weak hand shooting to train in case your strong hand gets injured during a gunfight. That literally cost a few "non-shooters" their jobs and they had to take a position that was unarmed until they could qualify.
Artemus
Restrictions on the 1911 and shooting one handed are the defining aspects of Traditional, but I don't see the need to force a switch. I'll do it if there's a problem, but no other reason. Traditional is usually 25-35% of the matches I attend. Land Run and EoT have the best Traditional/Modern ratio.
Ranger Dan
That would be fun for experienced shooters. Something a lot of experienced WB shooters seem to forget is not everyone is an experienced shooter and would be very uncomfortable shooting one handed, much less off hand. I would be fine, my better half would not, and I would not like to see the results of the many WB shooters who have never even attempted one handed or off hand shooting with their 1911. We often see the WB posts about how it should be "more challenging" and I agree. However you have to take into account the not so experienced shooters perspective. What is challenging to us may be too much for others and that is not good for the sport. 1

I would go further and suggest forcing inexperienced shooters to shoot duellist style or WEAK HAND could border on the unsafe. Certainly "unfun" for those not comfortable with it. Which sort of defeats the purpose of the game surely? No offence to the other poster, but I don't see the relevance of police type training to a recreational activity. LOL..I'm a HALO qualified military jumper but I don't expect civvie Skydivers to jump with equipment packs!😉

Doc Holloman
I would save it for a side match. I ran a two-gun Cowboy side match last year I called Horse Solder, It had two classes: Trooper and Scout with the clsss determined by rthe firearms used. But in both classes the revolver had to be fired Deulest. I happened to win the Trooper class (yeah, yeah I know, the fix was in, but I had to fund some way to win something) but I can tell you, cocking that .45 Colt with my arthritic right thumb was no fun and I'm glad I only had t do it 5 times. (anyone interested in the details of the side match, feel free to ask.)
