El Muerto Negro
I understand some guys carry a mag with 1 round what's the reason? Thanks EMN
Garrison Joe
Common malfunction clearance on a 1911 often means you jack out a live round (or even knock a round off the top of a mag as you pull it or insert it into receiver). The Barney Fife magazine (from Mayberry fame) gives you a quicker way to shoot one more round than to pull a full mag, shoot the top round, drop the mag and cycle the slide and engage the slide stop. If you never have malfunctions or loading mistakes, you never need one. ;D
Boggus Deal
But guaranteed that sometime, somewhere, you are going to reach for a full mag and end up with one in the gun with only one round in it.
Garrison Joe
(sheepishly) which is why I never use a Barney Fife.

Boggus Deal
A Barney Fife is a magazine with one round in it.
Blackfoot
If you are too young to know who Barney Fife is just search for "Mayberry RFD" and watch an episode or two. Blackfoot 8)
Uncle Buck
Also search for the Andy Griffith show. Short explanation. Barney was an inept deputy who was only allowed to have one bullet for his pistol and that he had to keep in his shirt pocket and get Andy's OK to use. El Muerto Negro
Uncle Buck, Thank you I know the Andy Griffith show. It was in reruns when I was a kid never watched it. But now it all makes sense and kinda funny. EMN
