  1. Now, why you need the C45S in a rifle, I really don't know, especially in WB where a more realistic PF minimum is required). I still use .45 Colt loads there.

    Possible reason:

45 Colt can't be loaded from the top in my '73 due to COL.

One of these days I'll get around to trying with 45 Schofield and/or C45S

Both of these work for reloads in a 73 just fine. kR

  2. AW & GJ sorry for the misunderstanding.  I posted the above for information only.  Since I shoot primarily small primer brass, I have been asked if there is a difference in velocity.  While I felt that small primer brass lowered the velocity, I had never compared them side by side.  My only fallacy in the test is that the primers are not all from the same manufacturer; as, I am now wondering if all Winchester primers are "hotter."

So let me be clear.  I don't feel the need nor compunction to justify a superior brass to you or anyone else. :)

I sort my acp brass and then load all the sp at the same time. Last time was 600+.  kR

  3. No reload involved. First round was partially in chamber. I read and reread the rule and as near as I could tell the situation was not covered. What actually happened was the shooter fired the round in the gun and then did load a loaded mag without the slide locked back. After discussing what happened the shooter wanted to know if he could have reinserted the empty mag so the slide would have stayed locked back. I told him I wasn't sure but it would not in my opinion be a "tactical reload" as there was nothing in the mag. kR
  4. I have an SR1911, 2 Colt 1911s, an Ria and I had a Kimber until my wife appropriated it. They all are very accurate but the trigger on the RIA is atrocious. The Ruger and the Colt gov't model will take about anything you feed them and are not too sensitive about being shot dirty. The RIA is very sensitive about what you feed it. kR
