Well, one thing thats been promised over several years was the Wild Bunch would be treated as just important as Cowboy.

It could be. I personally know WB shooters who were in it from the start and have quit shooting WB because in some peoples minds it should be a marathon. They feel it is no longer an enjoyable sport and have voted with their feet.

If the spring weight is proper to the load you are shooting the spent cartridge should LAND 3'-9' from the shooter.

As already mentioned two different scenarios, two different penalties.  For a few years we wrote in the WBAS Match Directors guide that "split sequences" were strongly discouraged but since almost no MD's or stage writers read the MD guide we dropped it and many other things in the MD guide.  I agree with Artemus that it is not a good idea but other disagree. I feel it is a "penalty trap" for traveling shooters especially when it is rarely seen in many places.

Is there a reason to not run Wild Bunch on a separate day? At my club, the first Saturday is Wild Bunch only, and the second Saturday is for Cowboy. You might even pick up a few more shooters with a dedicated day, if they don't want to give up their cowboy practice time. Silly as that is, since WB is clearly the best.  With that many bays I can't fathom how you can't just set a few up for WB, at least for the day and leave the rest to cowboy. At the end of the day more shooters means more income, who cares what they are shooting.

I think the survey about joining the SASS forum pretty much describes how WB shooters feel about becoming a category in SASS.

We generally have 2-3 cowboy posses on Saturday, an 2 cowboy any 1 WB posses on Sundays.  WB interest has been off this year.  Lot of reasons: ammo (28-35 .45acp per stage), COVID.  Some folks complain that WB targets are too far out and this we rarely have clean matches.  Plus the general Cowboy shooter hostility to WB.

 

Our ranch has 16 stages, plus a long range stage, so we have plenty of room and targets.  We have a work day on the Tuesday before match weekends where we generally have about a dozen people.The biggest complaints I hear are the extra work needed to set up WB stages, and that WB posses move too slowly.

 

Frankly the Cowboy shooting doesn't excite me.  Repeated 3 target Nevada sweeps at 3-4 yards are just boring.

You must have a unique club. We shoot all over the US and have not encountered "Cowboy hostility" towards WB anywhere. Also most of the shoots we attend do not have the 3 target Nevada sweeps at 3-4 yards. We just finished a state match that had a higher than usual number of clean shoots, they had 6. Targets were out far enough to make it interesting. Doc, I think you need to travel a little and expand your horizens. Short while back we attended a match that had Pro steel, WB and CAS. In a couple of weeks we will be at another match that will have all three again.

I shot with you at CD and you told me you used store bought ammo. You still should  check every round before you use it. As far as the CM mags if they are the older ones that do not have the stronger construction they will give you problems. Most of the problems I saw you having at CD I would say were mag or ammo related.

An absolute necessity is check your ammo. If you use crappy ammo in an expensive custom gun you will not like the results.

Shooter did get a restart. But after every body stopped laughing I told him we should consider those three or four rounds that were cycled as rounds downrange. He took it in the manner it was intended. He's a good sport but he did take a little ribbin about that.

Looks to me like the mag would extend beyond the magwell if it did not have the leather on it.

She does push the frame and pull the slide it’s just arthritis is making it harder to grasp the slide,

so checking for extra ideas. Bogus I sent a PM.

She should not pull the slide. The hand and arm that holds the slide should be held immobile against her side and then push the frame of the gun with her other hand this is much easier to do.

Light enough to fire when you want to without excess force and heavy enough to require a conscious effort to fire it. Different for differnt people.
