  1. Wilson 1911s are too heavy for any wb category. A buddy weighed his for me @ 43.9 with a mag. My rock island (yes a know it has hogue laser grips, it's not a WB gun) it weighs 42.29 with a mag. So all I'm I'm asking is just add 2 ounces to the 1911 for both categories to alleviate the chance of someone unknowingly using an illegal gun. We're allowing carbon fiber magazine tubes on 38cal 60pf rifles and now there's an article in the chronicle about allowing semi automatic rifles in WB soo what's 2 ounces on a 1911?
  2. Can we just raise the weight limitation on these pistols? If a factory built 1911 is "too heavy" that seems kind of problematic... I'm sure I'm not the only person who never would have guessed i was very very nearly over the weight limit. + 2 ounces for both traditional and modern looks like it would cover all factory built 1911s. My rock island is too heavy for even modern. How can that be? How many people are running tisas, rock islands, norincos (also overweight for modern) and others and don't even know it? I'd bet a ruger sr1911 is way over weight.
  3. Holy crap! I ordered a postal scale from Amazon and weighted it... I never would have guessed it weighed this much!! I just ordered an aluminum mainspring housing from hogue. It's not overweight but so close I don't want to take a chance someone's scale is off in case it ever does get weighed.
  4. Yes it's chrome. I wish it was only nickel so it wouldn't look like the bumper from a 58 Buick but it was a gift, not a lot of people buy me guns for gifts and I love it!
  5. I certain that's a misprint, there is no way it weighs that much. that would mean it weighs more than a hi point 45 (35oz) and only slightly less than my .50 caliber L5 desert eagle (48oz)...
  6. My problem is the edge of the safety below where the hammer would be when cocked, (See pic) digs into my hand drawing blood (other pic is of the scab right now). this happened at the WV state shoot weekend before last and I'm certain it was causing me to flinch every time i shot since it literally hurt to shoot. I found one on ebay that was more rounded so i replaced the factory one with that since i cant file or grind on the original since its hrome plated and will cuase i bigger issue later down the road when it starts to peel. Hopefully this elevates the issue...
  7. I run a chrome iver johnson 1911a1 for traditional with a fitted wilson barrel https://iverjohnsonarms.com/store/p172/1911A1_CHR45WP.html I love this 1911! My only complaint is the original barrel was chrome plated and just like every other chrome lined/plated barrel, it had horrible accuracy so i had wilson fit a barrel to it and do an action job but since they couldn't replace the hammer, trigger or grip safety, they didn't do anything to the action saying "its nearly perfect the way it is". I put a 20lb mainspring in it and really don't know why...lol... For the money, its an amazingly great 1911! I have 2 other 1911s (rock island and Auto ordnance thompson). I also have previously owned 2 kimbers and this Iver is superior to all of them in every way.
  8. Leave Traditional 40cal or bigger with 150 PF... Modern can have all the 38 mouse farts and race guns they want...
  9. I shoot at Cass in wv only. We shoot once a month starting in April on the 3rd Sunday ending in October. I shoot traditional. We host the wv state wb championship and I've won traditional the last 2 years we've hosted it. However, with the mouse fart 38s now infiltrating traditional class, this is likely my last year shooting wb... I got into wb because with the heavy hitting 45s, shooter ability was more important than who can run the lever the fastest, unlike cas where 60pf 38 powder puff loads that the timers cant even hear dominate...
  10. I'm going to see if my club will let me shoot this in a monthly match.... I'm sure it will make pf...
  11. I used a pipe cutter, just take your time. I also ordered a .175 bead and tap and drill bit set.
  12. So I did it... Much handier now...
  13. I fill my stock bolt holes with flattened 45 colt bullets. My main shotgun is a 3" solid rib cut at 20" with jeweled 2 3/4 bolt and flagged lifter I got on eBay for like 30 bucks! The sucker is heavy and has very controllable recoil with the Estate 1oz factory loads I buy. How much are those weighted followers and where do I buy 2?
  14. 3 so far for cutting it, 0 against it. I'm cutting it tonight!
