  1. At the Texas Doughboys we generally engage rifle targets at 50 to 80 yards. Eleven inch squares and 2/3 sized IDPA targets are easily engaged off hand. Scenarios can be the same as a regular match stage. Just exchange the pistol caliber lever for a "real" rifle. May keep the shotgun or not. DB can be 5 or 10 rounds, as they are easily and quickly reloaded with stripper clips. The lever guns don't reload as fast, so we just usually shoot 5 rounds in TR. They don't have to be exotic, just have fun...Hoodoo.
  2. I've used both, the Parks Inn and the Best Western. As Dusty said the Parks is an old style single story motel, pull right up to your door. It was clean and may have had a coffee maker & microwave in the room. Can't remember for sure, but no other amenities. It is also close to the railroad tracks if you enjoy listening trains during the night. The Best Western is closer to the range and has free breakfast. It had just been remodeled and was in nice condition. But all the rooms are inside and have to go through the lobby to enter. Pros and cons for both, the Parks was a little less expensive when I was there.
  3. Michael Bane of the television show Shooting Gallery, spent two days filming the Texas State Wild Bunch Championship match at Bowie, Texas back in November, 2020. While there he did a pod cast in which he was very complementary of the match and Wild Bunch in general. He referred to it as World War I three gun. He interviewed several shooters including Evil Roy, Wicked Felina and Dusty Boddams. The episode is scheduled to air this Wednesday, the 10th. In my area it is on the Outdoor channel at 6:30 PM and again at 9:30 PM, Central time. Who knows how much of the match will actually be on television, but hopefully WBAS will receive some good publicity. In the opening scenes of the new season of Shooting Gallery, several of our shooters of the match can be seen. Catch it if you can. Thanks...Hoodoo.
  4. Hoodoo here. Yes, I still load BAMM ammo for several shooters. Norm makes a coated, gas checked bullet. I cast & load a lubed, gas checked bullet. I size my .30-06 bullets at .310 & have not found an 03 or 03A3 that won't shoot a cast bullet well. Let me know if I can help you...Hoodoo.
  5. Griff---If you remember, I told you last year that I would shoot SENIOR Traditional with you this year. Well, I'm old enough now, so you better show up!...Hoodoo.
  6. Snake-eye---The MGW works great for me. It has been on the pistol for 2.5 years. Occasionally, very seldom, it will get a little loose. When it does, I peen it a little with a punch & is good to go. This is my main match pistol & gets shot a lot. I also have the same set up on a Springfield as my backup pistol. Also, if I ever want to put the Colt back to original configuration, it can be easily done. With a dove tail cut, not so much. I'm not trying to talk you out of cutting your slide, just advising of a ten dollar fix that works well for me....Hoodoo.
  7. Goatneck put a 10-8 rear and MGW plain black, serrated ramp on an early 60's Colt Commercial for me. They are $10.00 from Brownell's and have both narrow & wide tenon. Works well for me without messing up a Colt slide. Hope I did not screw up my first post! Hoodoo.
