Sure would love to see something other than 1911 but doubt it is going to happen.  Guess I remember the run what you brung before SASS got ahold of WB.

CN you know you are more than welcome to use my us armenment 1903 colt.

 

I have a few like 3 or 4 factory mags, lead bullets for it.

 

While 32 acp it is still the same size and pretty close to weight.

 

Got an interarms luger in 9mm as well with a bunch of mags and all lead bullets as well if you want to try or put on a stage for a mag or two of something like dusty mentioned which I have heard is called battlefield pickup.

 

Just let me know.

 

Gilly let me at a WB use the luger and called it turn of the century cowboy class.

I have to tell you the difference in trigger feel between the R1 and the Taurus I used is like night and day.

 

The R1 just a gentle little pressure on the trigger is enough to drop the hammer.  The Taurus I definitely have to squeeze a bit more.

 

I can hardly wait to put live rounds through.

So I have been wanting to shoot traditional and traded into a Remington R1. 

 

Tried shooting one handed last match with regular Taurus 1911.  The results were well not up to snuff.

Think kept dipping the pistol wrist was weak.

 

Anyway, any tips what might help other than practice practice.

Wew, I think Grouchy nailed it.  These days (well before the canceled matches) a bit more fun with WB than Cowboy.  Not sure much else to encouage more to give it a go. The local club pretty much is flexible say on caliber, pistol and rifle, same club runs a cowboy match and allows a category for use of WB guns.  I think msybe got one or two possible recruits out of 60 or so people.  So pretty well convinced that if a person is interested they will come.  All I can do is say give it a try, plenty of folks to help you out.  As for me being a cowboy gunfighter I was just starting to try the 1911 one handed.  Boy oh boy I was slow but omg did I have a lot of fun.  Well to me life is getting too short not to try something new.

Just wanted to tosd out a BIG CONGRATULATIONS to CN Double on his win.  Fantastic shooter, good pard and all aroind good guy. 

Nice.  I have a Ted Blocker cowboy rig and when doing WB just pull the holsters and slip on the mag pouches and 1911 holster.  Love the spring steel retainers in the mag pouches as well.

The slightly higher velocity puts it right in there for 1907 as well.  Not played with a model 8 since I do not have one.  Both to me more or less fit in with Gamm wnd certainly more WB era that is why I call them SAMM

I run a 97 but that is because I slso use it in cowboy as well.  I think yhe Model 12 is the WB shotgun.

92 Rossi is fine.  73 probably the top gun.  I run a Marlin which is probably a close second.

At least in my expetience WB is much more emphasis on the pistol than cowboy. Maybe shotgun second.

Many stages I have shot would be 3 to 4 magazine changes, 6 shotgun but maybe 7 in rifle.  Yes it varies but typical, so to me order of emphadis is pistol, shotgin, then rifle.

Not sure anymore on Australian laws but pump shotguns are class C or are they now class Ds?

 

 

I finally covinced a nice lady cowboy shooter to come out and give wild bunch a try. 

 

Gave her guns and ammo.

 

She did really well, two clean stages on some challening stages.

 

At the end of every stage she would lean over and say: "I like this!"

 

Thimk I got her hooked.

Agree with what has been said.  If you do Cowboy with a 73 then probably stick with it.

i run cowboy with a Marlin so when started WB stuck with a Marlin.

 

Other than convience of running 45acp shared between rifle and pistol not much reason to me. 

 

My WB rifle is my backup cowboy as well.  I do not think much difference between 38 spl and 45 colt unless you are really loading the later up. 

 

I use 185g for 45s.  I have loaded those in 45acp, 45 cowboy special and 45 colt.

 

I run 97 shotgun (IAC Cowboy), have two and both set up with 6 tound conversions.  Primarily so I can use them in WB and cowboy.  Not maybe as good as a Model 12 but I am not looking for a top spot EOT place either.

 

I went with a Taurus PT1911, yes inexpesive, but it has run reliable with everything I hsve given it.  I have seen plenty of Amscore made 1911s and they have worked just fine as well.  Reliability is paramount in the pistol as well as good magazines.

 

Then you have to decide on Traditional vs Modern.  A traditional style pistol can be used in either category.

 

 

Understood, but think POP could be easily incorporated something like Cowboy pocket pistol, only spell out general outline.   

Magtec makes 32 acp with lead only bullets.  Run fine in my 1903.

Would a Mauser 1910 be acceptable?

If you used a Walther PP or PPK, would it have to be old manufacture?

 

As long as same design.  Considered a replica sort of.  So quick answer PP p r PPK legal.

I stand corrected I went back to proposed rules and 1945 is cut off date for design of pistol.

PPK is fine and proposed rules actually named Mauser 1910 as an example.

Center fire 25 scp to 380 acp.

I think the savage is fine but people way more knowledgable will jump in.

Yes indeed rifles and ammo was available.  Just took so long to get range owner on board and get the Board on board we did not have a firm go for it until a couple of months ahead. 

 

That should be different next time for BAMM.  POP is just going to be figuring a time to squeeze it all in.
