I believe there is no right or wrong way, but what is a simply quick spray or technique to clean your 1911?

Thanks again Dusty! I spoke with Lefty Wheeler, who will be doing some basic work on a Model 12 that I purchased. 1956 in good, almost great shape. Going to order at least two steel firing pins and have him pull the original and compare it to the new ones. Cut the barrel to 22" and install a front site and a few other checks. After reading up on the history, here on the Wild Bunch forum, it seems that a Model 12 firing pin is one of the weakness's for the Model 12, in this game. In the likely event of a firing pin breakage, who or where would one purchase one? Is there a Model 12 firing pin made of titanium or some harder yet flexible metal out there? Or is any replacement good, just get used to changing out a firing pin? :o Many thanks to some direction and advice!

What are the standard length's for most of the shooters that cut the barrel down? Do most have choke tubes inserted? Many thanks for any positive advice and directions.

I did my crimp with this batch, at .47" too. I hope to put some rounds on chronograph on Saturday or Sunday. That is one plan, subject to modification, change, deletion,....etc Many thanks Marshal Stone!

Marshal Stone, are you using a hard crimp on that or just mild? I use precision bullets with a polylube hybrid coating. He suggests a starting crimp that measures .468 to .469 at the top of the brass...which was belled to accept the .4515 dia bullet. Thanks for any additional info! OkDee

Anyone have some average velocities and power factors? Other than what their website states, please. Pro's or Con's?

I had one in a Springfield Armory 1911-a1, 5" stainless steel frame. It has the full one-piece length guide rod in it. That is the only 1911 I have seen to have the buffer on. Mine worked fine with factory 230 fmj bullets. With reloads, I do not know. I recently had this Springfield barrel and trigger replaced by Lohman Gunsmithing in Houston. They did not replace the buffer. Still works as it should. Go figure. Could be like the GI versus the full length guide theory/marketing ploy, just another option to try.

Thanks Garrison Joe! Truly wish I could I had more options to live fire. Dry fire is the choice of many and usually the only option, outside of shooting a match. The ability to do any of Wild Bunch or Cowboy Action shooting gun handling, does require one to be able to handle safely and manipulate all guns and equipment. Hence, the dry fire portion of which I have ample time and location to do so, is critical to my success and enjoyment.
