Back 40
Need some help. Shooting a Colt 1911 traditional with 230 gr bullet and running about 850 fps. Gun is cleaned and oiled. Now, shoots great but is slow to cycle closed. Is it me or what? I've shot the gun for over a year and it just started doing it. Thanks in advance. DUSTY BODDAMS
Sounds like it's gummy or dry. I know you said that you just cleaned but why don't you check it again and also make sure your rails are oiled and see if that helps. Grouchy Spike
I had a similar incident on several semiautos after CleanFire (or is it FireClean) was applied several months earlier. That 'lube' really turned tacky. And it was difficult to remove too.
Boggus Deal
As mentioned, it's likely dirty or gunked up with bad lube. I use Lucas Oil outdoor line cleaner and oil. For the slide, I use their lightest oil possible. When I let it go too long, even it gets sticky.
Garrison Joe
Case gauge some of your ammo, and make sure it's not covered in stray bullet lube or case lube. Clean a dozen or so with a rag damp with paint thinner and try them through the gun. If you haven't changed something in the gun (like the cleaner or lube you are using), it's probably in the ammo. Good luck, GJ
